It's always exciting to see new, young players.

I hope he has a chance to make a good impression. He's looked good the last couple of spring trainings.

Well, he has solid stats in Charlotte. Hopefully he can help us out a little.

13 pitchers? Have we ever done this (pre-September) before?

Charlotte radio announcer was on WSCR a few weeks ago...was raving about Russell as the most likely guy to help the big league club this year.

This is a dumb question, but what is the restricted list exactly?

This was the perfect opportunity to bring up Owens. They blew it. Another pitcher does not make much sense.

He looked good in the spring...
Unless it's predetermined, I don't think he'll be going back down real quick.

Another outfielder makes even less sense. BA has done his job and has made the most of his playing time. It's tough enough to get him major league at bats.

Russell has pitched out of the pen in Charlotte.

Alexei didn't get sent down to the minors, so I'm guessing he will rejoin the team after the Toronto series, so I'm guessing Russell or someone else is going back down.

People need to get over Jerry Owens because he's not going to take playing time away from The Carlos Quentin

I'm drawing a blank on Russell. Has he ever been up with the big club before? What type of pitches does he feature?

Just the last couple springs. He was a starter before this year. He's a huge dude. Pitches a lot like Jose Contreras, and has said that Jose is a guy he tries to emulate.

Yeah, multiple arm angles.

He's been a starter most of his minor league career, but impressed Sox brass last spring where they converted him to late relief.

It's only for 4 days, but let's see what he can do. Maybe a competition between Russell and Wassermann?

Well if it's only for this weekend they may feel they are an arm short since Masset just went 4 innings on Wednesday...if you assume at least three days rest...he's available Sunday at the earliest.

Is Russell getting sent back down now? Did he even get to pitch?

I would have like to have seen him at least get into 1 game.

Apparently he's already been sent down.
