Agreed.

Every year this team is under financial constraints, yet usually competitive. In my opinion they are one of the best managed franchises in all of sport.

Where has this mentality taken them so far? A bunch of division titles and early exits out of the playoffs and.........NO WS TITLES!!!

No they never won a WS with their fairly recent revolving door, develop as many young players as you can, sign mediocre veterans mentality. Which was the philosophy that the previous posters were referring to.

So why would we aspire to be them? We have a WS title more recently than they do....all they got out of this philosophy was a bunch of division titles.

Like when Justin Morneau was quoted in '06 of saying-in regard to who does he think will win the central-he said, Anyone but the White Sox. That annoys me too.. I still think that three day series in MN last memorial day (when AJ was accused of stepping on Morneau's foot) was the beginning of the end for 2007.

What they do is play well beyond their talent level, while the White Sox have several times underachieved. Also, they actually teach fundamentals in their minor leagues and their players come up ready to play, instead of just promoting the best hitter.

Mike Mulligan just went on a Twins rant...pretty funny to hear. Most of what he said is true though, the Twins are an organization that turns journeymen players into good baseball players. He's also tired of Hawk and Ozzie praising them so much. Honestly, if they like the Twins' style so much, why not copy it?

Lip Man 1

Exactly... it starts from the grass-root efforts from the day the kids are drafted, those organizations that everyone always praises usually do it the same. What Rookie ball players learn, AAA guys learn. It's not Small ball at A, Big swings at AA, back to small ball at AAA... everyone is taught the EXACT same way.

We're seeing how that's paying off for the Diamondbacks now, Oakland typically does this and the Twins.

They also got high draft picks because they absolutley sucked 2004-2006 (they lost 111 games in 2004). They have drafted well but it isn't like they only had a couple chances.

First off, we hate Punto as much as anyone, if not more. Same goes for Tyner, Hocking and a number of other players that got on the good side of the manager despite how poorly they played.

Off course we can hate no other player more than we hate AJ Pukezinynski.

Here's some interesting stuff for you guys:

Twins AL Cenral Titles: 2006,2004,2003,2002
West Division Titles since 61: 1991,1987,1970,1969
AL Pennants: 1991,1987, 1965
World Series Titles: 1991 & 1987

Sox AL Central Titles: 2005 & 2000
West Division Titles since 61: 1993 & 1983
AL Pennants since 61: 2005
World Series since 61: 2005

Twins record VS the Sox the last 7 years: 135-74 (54%)
Not bad but we kill KC (62%) & Detroit (62%) much worse. Cleveland has our number though (47%). That's an average of 56% in division win %.

OTOH the Sox look like this: Cleveland (52%), Detroit (62%), KC (65%) adn that is an average of 56% in division.

Easy to see that the Twins are the better team during the last 47 years. Heck, you take out 2005 and you guys haven't done squat. That has to hurt given your teams payroll is huge!

Look at all of those division wins... and only 2 WS. Huh. Here's the thing: While I greatly admire the Twins' ability to get to the first level of the playoffs, I really don't want to emulate their inability to close the deal at the following levels. They're a good organization, but not a great organization because they don't have the WS rings. I want the Sox to continue to aspire to be a great organization.

Edited for stupidity.

What I really hate about the Twins is POS fans like you who come on and troll a White Sox message board.

No other AL team has as many fans troll on WSI as much as Twins fans do.

We don't tolerate trolling on this board. You want to talk about the Sox being a "flash in the pan," take it somewhere else. You want to taunt, take it somewhere else. Keep it up, and I'll send you somewhere else.

You want to intelligently talk baseball, welcome. You are welcome to support your team, as long as you do it positively. If you are trying to piss people off, that's trolling, and you'll be gone.

I was under the impression this was a forum not Russia. Is saying that the Sox were a flash in the pan in 2005 inaccurate in any way? They havn't really done a lot since then, that's my point. But hey, I guess I'm the troll ruining your "Why we hate the Twins" thread.

I couldn't really give a crap if you banned me, it would just show that the way you run your boards is to slam the ban hammer on anyone who doesn't happen to be a Sox fan. If that's the case I don't want to be a part of your commie boards anyway.:threadsucks

Wow, you choose crow as part of your screen name and within hours of registering here you're forced to eat some.

There are Twins fans who've posted here for years with no problems. A Tiger fan or two as well.

Yes, and then there's Fenway. Ban him now, mods! The Twinkies fan said so!

Don't forget there is a Mariner season ticket holder here, too. That's it, ban him!

Russia? Commie? This is a private club. Unless the cops come busting in and take you to jail, your rights are not being violated.

I've been here 2 years and am not really a Sox fan. I'm a Tiger fan first and a baseball fan second. I say that so that you understand that your perception of what this site is all about is wrong.

He's a typical AM sports droll fan. I can point you in the general direction of where he came from, but you can go ahead and ask Timberwolf yourself. I'm sure he'd be happy to tell you where the Twins "rubes" forum is.

1961 is when the Twins came into the MLB.

So you'd rather be a flash in the pan instead of having a chance to win it every year?

(1) You are mistaken. The Twins did not come into baseball in 1961 but, instead, are an original AL franchise that came into existence in 1901 as the Washington Senators. Actually, they might have been called the Nationals back then but that's beside the point. The Senators moved to Minneapolis in 1961 and became the Twins. If you want to extend this argument out, the Senators had a couple of decent years between 1901 and 1961 but, for the most part, they were mired in what used to be called the second division of the AL.

(2) If you think 2005 was a flash in the pan, you were simply not paying attention. The 05 Sox broke the 55 Dodgers' record of starting the season with leads in 38 straight games. They led wire to wire; only 5 teams (27 Yankees, 55 Dodgers, 84 Tigers, 90 Reds and 05 Sox) ever did that. They led wire to wire and led their league in wins; only 4 teams (27 Yankees, 55 Dodgers, 84 Tigers and 05 Sox) ever did that. They led wire to wire, led their league in wins and swept the World Series; only two teams (27 Yankees and 05 White Sox) ever did that. They finished the regular season and post-season with a 17-1 record; only the great 70 Orioles team, who finished 18-1, can match that.

You can like it, not like it -- I could really care less. The 2005 White Sox were one of the greatest baseball teams of all time. Peter Gammons has remarked that they were one the five best in the past 25 years. I think they are of the 10 best ever. Put it this way -- name ten teams that can match the accomplishments set forth above.

2005 was before my time here and with the Tigers being bad for so long I didn't have strong feelings for division rivals. But I do recall at the time thinking that Chicago was the best team all year long, that it was a special year like 1984 was me and the Tigers. It's the kind of season that will probably stand out among all others no matter what happens the rest of your life as a Sox fan. In the WS I wanted th Sox to win because I like it when the best team for the whole season wins the championship.

Interesting thing. As regular--and highly respected--posters, we have Oblong, a Tigers fan; Fenway, a Red Sawx fan; and ma-gaga--a Twinkies fan. Odd we don't have any Indians fans that fall into that category. Or do we?

Outcast Radio was a Toons fan, he doesn't come around much.

Goofy is a Mariners fan, there are a couple Marlins fans hanging around on occasion, as well as Cardinals and Mets fans.
