Once again, if you want a sports columnist that doesn't have an ax to grind against the SOX, the go to guy is Barry Rozner of the Daily Herald.

Read this for a good article on Nick Swisher and Frank Thomas.

He is the best sportwriter in this town. He knows the teams and their traditions and does not pull punches.

I saw this guy at Soxfest covering the Ozzie/KW meeting. I wasn't sure who he was though. He was really old-school looking: suit about 2 sizes too big and wearing gym shoes. I half expected him to have a fedora with "press" written on it and a chewed-up cigar.

I've been very impressed with his coverage of the Sox though. It's nice to see a guy that's not swayed by faux-mysticism, stock options or vendetta-advancing blind hatred.

 Gotta give Roz a thumb's up.. One of the few objective guys out there. Met him also... But from a West Side perspective with the Hawks. Used to rub elbows at the Edge during the Hawks rookie camps. He was one that was rightfully always a thorn in Old Man Wirtz's side. He's been round the block and lurks in all our boards. In fact, has high praise for George and the boys at WSI.. He loves our take no prisoners attitude.. As well as the history aspect and insightful interviews.

lol, that couldn't be any further from the truth. this article was decent, but take a look at any one of the 50 pieces of trash that he wrote on the blackhawks throughout this season.

here's a snippet from his latest piece of garbage on the hawks (he's referring to chelios at the beginning) -
In some ways, he's just what the club needs, with kids running amok in the locker room and no one really in control. Chelios would never allow it, becoming something of a player-coach himself, and perhaps even the manner of speak, spin and fantasy would change with some lessons from the 22-year veteran. from http://www.dailyherald.com/story/?id=177134

i should add that the only 'running amok' in the locker room this season was havlat/lapointe getting into it.....and rozner's never actually been seen interviewing hawk players before/after a game.

he's slightly above mariotti as far as stupidity in sportswriting goes.
