I just read on my pay fantasy site that he could have been a cub.

they did say the details are sketchy

the cubs told the twins they had interest, but the twins forgot to tell Santana about the cubs.

Santana said he would have considered waiving his no trade clause to be a cub.

Translation: the Cubs offered a poo-poo platter for him and the Twins didn't bother returning the call.

Cubs wouldn't of had enough to get him. Hell, they couldn't even get Brian Roberts, how the hell were they going to get Santana?

when you look at the two big parts of the deal, Gomez and Guerra... the Cubs and most everyone couldn't match that offer!

So you say that Gomez is better than Melky Cabrera or Jacoby Ellsbury?

This is probably based of the article in today's paper.

Santana basically said that the talk of him wanting to play on the East coast was over blown and that it didn't matter to him if he played spring training in Florida or Arizona though everyone assumed he wanted to be in Florida with his family.

Exactly. It's silly to over hype prospects

Yes - for this reason - they were able to unload him to the NL instead of the AL East.

If Santana would have been a Cub I think it would be safe to assume Nathan wouldn't be a Twin either cause Marmol would have been part of the deal.

yeah I started to think about this if it did happen and a few dominos would fall in diff places but most of this is so speculatory.

maybe in time more specifics about this may leak.
