View Full Version : Days in 1st Place?

Does anyone know of a web site that can tell me the number of days each team spent in 1st place for a given year? I've looked at baseballcube and baseball-reference and haven't found it yet.

Maybe this would have it.

baseballreference does have it, just not in a nice tabular form. Go to the team schedule page for a given team for a given year, and it says how many days a team was in first.
For example, the 2005 Sox were in first for 161 days.

That's if you only consider the 161 days of the regular season. More than 90 of the 204 other days of 2005 fell after the end of the regular season, and for some of that time, the White Sox were playing, picking up 11 wins to 1 loss.
I'm thinking most White Sox fans considered their team to be in first place on Christmas morning and New Year's Eve. In the end, days spent in first place are irrelevant if you don't feel your team is in first place in December.
