I have an offer for some tickets but dont want to commit to them. The radar looks pretty bad out to the west. Do you think they will try to get it in tonight?

Is is speculation time? Maybe you should add a poll to this thread.

I say the game will be on, but delayed 1.5 hours.

i doubt it'll be postponed. showers aren't supposed to last that long. we might see a delayed start if anything but i think they will get the game in.

Looking at where the rain is I figure it'll be all done with by the time the good guys play....

Konrad on channel 9 this morning was just calling for rain in the early evening and said that it was just going to be a passing shower. I doubt they would cancel this game for that, if anything the game might be delayed at most half an hour IMO.

The forecast calls for Isolated T Storms. When you look at the radar in motion it shows the storms moving slowly northeast. Hopefully it will be out of the area by 2 or so this afternoon. I think the game will be played.

We are about 10 hours from game time, I would like to see where we are at come 6:30PM.

It is Chicago you know, lots of things can happen until then.

It seems like it, doesn't it? I remember going to 2 games last year. The first one wasn't even played (we all know what an uproar that caused) and the second one was cold and rain practically the entire game. I'm going to 2 this year, but they are for tomorrow and Thursday.

They also brought the Utica and Joliet tornado a few years back. I was at the game talking to my wife making fun of her for hiding in the basement. Imagine my surprise when I got home that night and couldnt get into the neighborhood...oops:redface:

I'm sure there will be plenty of others doing the same. I hope there's extra security since when the Sox and Cubs play the same day, in addition to this probably being the first night game with pretty decent weather, there's usually problems.

It seems like the Yankees have always brought rain.
When I was but a wee one, my dad took me down to see Mantle and Co.
It was pouring. All I saw was the view out McCuddy's front plate glass,

I'm hoping for no delay. This is the first game of the season for me, and I recall a miserable night last year against the Yankees while I was in attendance. From what I've heard it should just be isolated showers not the constant sideways rain at 40 degrees that they played through last year after a lengthy delay. PLAY BALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The first Saturday game of the season had rain the whole game and it was not delayed at all and carried on as scheduled. I came out of that game with my jeans just drenched. Maybe they don't want as many games made up this year, or they are just canceling games where the rain is going to be heavy for a long period of time like that game earlier in the season against the twins.

I can see it now...Cubs game delayed due to rain...and it will run over into the Sox game on Comcast and Sox fans will miss the first part of the Sox-Yankee game. This seems to happen when they put both games on Comcast occasionally, never when one is on WGN...fingers crossed...but I can see it coming.

Actually, rain would be good for me. If it doesn't rain, I'll stay home and watch it since it's on WGN. If it rains and the game doesn't get played, I'll head back to school and work on my stinking CFD project that's due next week, and while that's not as fun as watching a Sox game, I really should work on it tonight . . . but I just can't skip tv games since I don't see a ton of them.

There's some pretty mean stuff over south western Kendall County right now; but, since the Yankees don't come to Chicago again this season, I don't think they'll call this one off. It might be played a couple hours late, however. I'm bringing the umbrella just in case.

I agree. Since this is the Yanks only trip to Chicago, it is very likely they'll hang out all night to try to get this game in. If it gets delayed, I'm hoping it is delayed from the start so Floyd doesn't have to pitch 3 innings and then shut down for 2 hours. Masset has thrown several innings in the last few days so I question how long he could go in long relief tonight.

Another day another chance of rain. From the current radar it looks like this stuff should be out of here by game time at 7:11. However, it is very humid outside and I imagine cells will be popping up all over the Chicago-land area today and tonight.

I still think we get the game in, but it could be another late niter.
