Gary Sheffield has been bothered by his surgically-repaired shoulder and will have team doctors check it out Sunday.

Sheffield is not in the starting lineup for Sunday's game against the Blue Jays. "It doesn't hurt as much as it did, but it still doesn't give me the range of motion that I need," he said. "When I try to swing harder, it slows it down even more. I didn't know it was going to be this tight." Sheffield is hitting .192 with one home run and two RBI.

I'm glad they gave up a good part of the farm for this old man.

He's a dangerous hitter, though!

Personally, I'd have MacDougal start the next game versus the Tigers, have him serve up belt high fastballs for Sheff to swing at, and with any luck; he'll end his career on the homer soon to follow by finally tearing out the shoulder.

I think Sheffield should retire. The guy can't stay healthy anymore. However, I hope he keeps trying to come back and eat up as much of that Tigers payroll as possible. How long and how much are the Tigers on the hook for Sheffield?

I think he should hang on until Frank goes to Seattle, then retire.

Because injuries are funny, right?

From his days with the Brewers, Gary Sheffield has profited so much from being the most self-centered of jerks to the detriment of enough teams that, yeah, any adversity he faces actually does inspire some smiles.

His arrogance, his attitude, and his total lack of tact has a ton to do with it too.
