O.C. is pretty unoriginal, but preferable to O-Cab, which has popped up here from time to time.

OC isn't a nickname at all. It's just internet shorthand like a million other things.

Hawk was using it today, which makes it a nickname, in my book. Let it be noted that I don't actually care that much, and in fact prefer it to O-Cab, which is even less original. I was just looking for an excuse to throw that Arrested Development reference in there. :D:

we need to adopt, and begin circulating the nickname 'Lando'. I think it is preferable to both OC and O-Cab.

I've been using that since I was down in AZ for spring training. It just rolls off your tongue:

"Let's go 'Lando!"

His nickname doesn't bother me...his performance so far this young season does however.

Yea, it's too bad he hasn't come out of the gate well this year; but, I think the main reason for him being brought over here was for his defense, which he is producing so far!

Why don't we call him brother. As in, "Hey, Brother."

"O-Cab" is bad enough that I think it deserves a "fingernails on a blackboard" type language filtering... OC doesn't bother me.

Chisox:

And to be fair to Orlando, he is coming into a situation where he's probably played in more cold, freezing, lousy weather in the month of April then he has in his previous career indoors in Montreal and with the Angels. I'm sure he had a little with Boston...it does take some getting used to.

That's the first thought that came to my mind when someone suggested that for a new nickname.

Alexei Ramirez. That's a nickname I'm not particularly fond of.

I seem to believe He's called O.C., well mainly because of his
initials but also because the Angels announcers liked the
tie-in with the Angels playing in Orange County.

I'm bombarded with Dodgers/Angels living out here
and I seem to remember when Rex Hudler started using that moniker.

.354 OBP and 11 BBs for Cabrera this early in the year ain't too shabby either. (Isn't 11 walks already more than Uribe had in '07? :D:) It seems that Swisher and Cabrera are always on base this year which has really helped jump start the offense. Cabrera's defense has been solid too and I have a feeling his bat will heat up with the weather.

Is there any "nickname" that people on this board like?

BTW I heard a few interviews by the players and they refer to him as OC too.

For the new guys, I call them...

Swisher - Swish
Cabrera - Cab (but I'll start calling him Lando)
Quentin - "Q" (I cant think of a nickname for him)

You know what I hate? Darrin Jackson's nickname- DJ! GMAB, where do they come up with this crap? Anyone else hate this? They should just call him Darrin or perhaps D-Jack.

I say, why not consider "Cabby" (which could also be spelled Cabbie). If OC as a nickname was more befitting his career with the Angels (the whole Orange County thing). "Cabbie/Cabby" would be more befitting of his time in Chicago (Cabbie, as in a Taxi Driver) in that, he will take us where we need to go, and drive in the leadoff hitter.

So we have "Swish" the "Dirty Thirty"

"THE Carlos Quentin" also known as "TCQ"

Now adding "OC" aka "Cabby/Cabbie"

Just a suggestion...

DJ doesn't have a creative bone in his body. It's dough-tell anyway not do-tell. As far as Cabrera goes, let's call him Orca!

When the Sox had the Saturday Fox game against the Tigers, they had Nick Swisher announce the starting lineups in which he gave everyone a nickname. For Orlando Cabrera he said "Air" Cabrera. Must be because he makes those leaping throws.

But OC works for me.
