Sox swap minor leaguers with Anaheim

December 21th, from the White Sox Public Relations Department

The Chicago White Sox have acquired outfielder Scott Bikowski and infielder Josh Shaffer, both minor-leaguers, from the Anaheim Angels in exchange for left-handed pitcher Dan Mozingo and right-hander Jim Sweeney. Bikowski and Shaffer will be assigned within the White Sox minor-league system.

Bikowski, 24, batted .297 (143-482) with 10 home runs and 53 RBI in 128 games last season with Class A Rancho Cucamonga. The 6-0, 185-pounder added 28 doubles, 81 runs scored and 24 stolen bases. In 310 career minor-league games, Bikowski has hit .278 (320-1,150) with 20 home runs and 153 RBI.

Shaffer, 21, hit .280 (54-193) with two home runs and 20 RBI in 58 games with Rancho Cucamonga in 2001. He is a .240 (195-812) hitter over 230 career minor-league games. Shaffer, 6-1 and 180, is the son of Duane Shaffer, White Sox senior director of scouting.
