Sox get Klubered

April 21 Vs. Cleveland

Sox Office Smash Hit:
Because I feel like an idoit for having watched the whole thing.

Short Take: Kluber did what he does best and the Sox allowed him to do it at will...

Someday the Sox will rise up and smite the nasty stinking toons from Cleveland. Sadly tonight was not that night. Cory Kluber dominated and the Sox proved meek and feckless opponents. Maybe they were craving some Brawndo or a fat juicy steak or even a healthy dose of PED. Whatever it was they didn't have it or get it before the game had come and gone. Best thing you can say is it was over quickly. Clocking in at 2:45 the Sox went quietly into the good night and lost 3-0.

Not a lot to recap here. Jose Quintana took the mound for the Sox and actually looked a little better. He made it through six innings, yielding only 5 hits and a few walks. Sadly two of those hits left the yard and provided all the runs the toons would need. Jose drops to 0-4 and his ERA is still north of 6 so not like he's got a lot to complain about. The problem lies with him.

Offensively it was more of the same. The Sox managed to scatter three hits and took a couple walks but whenever they managed to look like something was going to go their way they managed to hit into a double play or strike out - something every single player on the team not named Tim Anderson did at least once. They only sent 29 men to the plate total because in addition to everything else Melky Cabera managed to run into the opening out of the 7th when he bounced one of the right field wall to open the inning but got cut down trying to get to second. He was out by several feet. Honestly that was probably the offensive highlight of the night. There were several foul popouts or at least it felt that way. It was brutal, brief, ugly then over.

The bullpen actually looked okay again tonight though Jennings had a bit of a rough outing yielding a single and a walk in his 1/3 of an inning. Nate Jones picked him up though and struck out three in 1.1 of his own. He's been showing signs of life recently and in general the bullpen looks quite competent, but oh that offense. Well tomorrow is another day and the Sox will face off with the toons again Game time is 6:10 in Chicago with fireworks to follow. Who knows, maybe the Sox will even score...

Brawndo it's what fans crave... NOT!
