WSI News - Totally Biased Game Recaps

September 18 at Kansas City Royals

Toon Squad Update:
Charlie Brown

Short Take: KC mastery of Quintana continues.

To say Jose Quintana struggles against the Royals would be an understatement. In 21 career starts against the Royals prior to today's game, Q has managed one victory. Jose's struggles continued today as he and the Sox were defeated by Kansas City 10-3.

Quintana did not seem to have sharp command of his pitches today. Whether being careful or aggressively attacking the strike zone, Kansas City hitters put his pitches into play early and often. By the end of the 2nd inning, the Sox were already down four runs.

KC starter Danny Duffy continued his breakout year and won his 12th game against only two losses. Duffy's only trouble happened in the top of the 4th, when he walked Melky Cabrera ahead of Todd Frazier's 37th home run of 2016. The 4-2 deficit was the closest the Sox would get. Quintana immedialtely gave back the two runs in the bottom of the 4th on a Paulo Orlando double, an Eric Hosmer single, and a Kendrys Morales double, all in a row. Quintana's day was done after completing the 4th inning, surrendering six runs on ten hits.

Sox mop-up pitchers Chris Beck and Jacob Turner each gave up a pair of runs as each of them completed two innings of relief. The final White Sox run came on Avi Garcia's two-out RBI single in the 7th, with runners on first and second.

The Sox and the Royals play a make-up game on Monday at 1:15 pm. Carlos Rodon faces Kansas City hot-head Yordano Ventura. Comcast Sports Net carries the broadcast.

That's all folks:
Maybe it's time to skip Quintana in series against the Royals.
