Sox bash the Tribe 11-4

September 12 vs. Cleveland

Toon Squad Update:
Chief Wahoo
These guys are the class of our division?

Short Take: Sox score in every inning for first time in 67 years.

They whooped up on the Indians, 11-4.

Hey, if that seems terse, this is my third TBGR in one week. Gimme a break.

OK, that was more than terse, so here's some detail...Why are we paying James Shields so much when Miguel Gonzalez would be a perfectly serviceable fifth starter on a contending team, much less on a team that's separated from the cellar only by the Twins and their 30.5 game deficit relative to the first-place Indians. Gonzalez pitched his ass off and got the kind of run support that Sale and (until recently) Quintana couldn't dream of. He yielded three earned runs in 6 and two-thirds innings, leaving to a well-deserved ovation.

It was a simply delightful evening to watch a ballgame. The Sox relentlessly scored one-spots and the occasional two-spot on their way to 11 runs and 16 hits. Tim Anderson had three singles in five at-bats, which was emblematic of the Sox offense tonight -- taking what the Indians were giving. Avi Garcia jacked a long homer, as did Todd Frazier and Adam Eaton. The Sox did benefit from some atrocious defense by Cleveland RF Lonnie Chisenhall, whose casual approach to balls rolling in his direction helped keep the Sox's train moving. But his two errors were matched by Abreu's two, which did nothing to slow our juggernaut. At times like this, the 2016 Sox don't seem to merit a tear-down. Don't let them fool you, though.

WSI's
That's all folks: Sox playing for nothing but pride. And maybe passion. Oh, and don't forget tradition.
