Day Of The Living Dead

July 17 at Los Angeles Angels

Toon Squad Update:

Zombie Sox Offense

Short Take: At least they scored one.

With Carlos Rodon on the disabled list, today was the day for AAA Charlotte to pick up the slack. Jacob Turner was not up to the task, and the Angels defeated the White Sox 8-1.

Emergency callup Turner showed why he does not belong on a MLB club. He started his game by walking Angels leadoff hitter Yuniel Escobar on four pitches. Two outs later, he served up a rolling curve ball that Albert Pujols hit to Fullerton. 2-0 Angels.

The White Sox battled back in the top of the 3rd. Sox callup catcher Omar Narvaez doubled to left for his first major league hit. With two outs Adam Eaton also doubled, and the Sox accomplished something they hadn't done in 34 innings. They scored a run.

The rest of the game was all Angels. Pujols hit another two run homer off Turner. Jeff Bandy and Gregorio Petit each hit RBI doubles. Turner walked two Angels and those turned into runs as well.

One bright spot for the White Sox was the major league debut of Carson Fulmer. In garbage time he was brought in to pitch the 7th and 8th innings. Showing no fear of the strike zone, unlike Turner, Fulmer struck out Pujols on three pitches. Two Angels reached base on Fulmer, one hit with a pitch and the other by base hit. But neither of them scored.

The Sox hope to reanimate their season Monday night against the Mariners. Chris Sale is matched up against Wade LeBlanc. The game will be on Comcast Sports Net at 9:10 pm.

That's all folks:
Arise, Sox offense!.
