The Minnow Strikes Again!

August 14th Vs. Flubbies

Sox Project Update:
Tried to install a Shark tank ended up with a Koi Pond
Most of the crew is working hard, but one of the supposed stars is turning out to be a bust.

Short Take: Another bad outing from Shark and more missed chances late doom the Sox to another loss.

Shark, Shark bo bark banana fana fo fark me my mo mark, Shark? Not hardly. Sox sent supposed ace and stud pitcher to the mound on Friday to try and grab a series lead against the red-hot crosstown rival flubbies. Unfortunately things didn't work out the way they hoped. The offense was solid early on, but missed some opportunities late and Jeff "Shark" Samardzija once again did not live up to his hype as the Sox go on to lose 6-5.

Early on the Sox offense was pretty good, coming back from early deficits to grab the lead in the bottom of the first and fourth innings. Along the way there were timely hits from red-hot Avisail Garcia and Adam Eaton who earned his Pick-to-Click honors with a 2-run bomb to retake the lead in the fourth. Most of the team had solid days at the plate with at least a hit, walk, RBI and/or run scored. The lone exception being (as usual) Adam LaRoche who just cannot seem to get anything going at all and once again went 0-4 with a couple of K. Even Jose Abreu managed to get a walk and score a run though he had that exact same batting line. Late in the game the Sox had multiple chances to retake the lead but as usual no timely hits were to be found.

Meanwhile, on the mound, Jeff Samardzija was once again proving to be all hype and no results or all hat and no cattle as the saying goes. "Shark" managed to give up 6 runs in the first five innings and though he stayed to work a scoreless sixth, the damage was done. Along the way he surrendered three homers including a 3-run jack in the third and back to back solo shots with two outs in the bottom of the fifth. Not really much positive to say about a guy who wants to be the man but has managed to go 8-8 with an ERA rapidly approaching 5.0 as I type. I imagine the person most upset with "The Minnow's" results is his agent who is watching money disappear with every subsequent crappy outing. Jeff, this is your moment. No one is going to give you a ton of cash to pitch like this. Fifth starters don't make the big bucks and right now that's what your stats say you are. Either figure it out down the home stretch of this season or kiss your big payday good bye. Wakey wakey, Jeffrey. It's now or never.

Ugh... really hate losing to these blue-clad losers from the north side. Hopefully Quintana and Sale can rack up a couple wins over the weekend and keep hope alive. Tough series next week in Anaheim against a pissed off, just swept Angels' squad, but for now the task at hand remains beating the flubbies. The Sox will try to do that again Saturday. Game time is 6:10 in Chicago. Maybe a Q-attack can help undo the trauma The Minnow inflicted on the team and fans.

Rebuilding Recap:
Maybe the progess will be better when the dead fish are finally purged from the system.
