WSI News - Totally Biased Game Recaps

June 19 Vs Texas

Sox Project Update:

Short Take:   Chris Sale is magnificent for 8 innings so of course Robin pulled him and the Sox go on to blow it.

Ever have one of those moments of clarity? One where suddenly everything snaps into focus and you can no longer deny reality? Yeah I had one of those moments tonight. It happened around the time pinch-hitter Mitch Moreland's game winning 2-run single landed in the right field grass. Maybe I should have seen it sooner, but I tend to hold on to hope longer than many other people and up to that moment I still had some hope the Sox would manage to turn this thing around and at least put together a run and finish with a respectable record. I give up. Robin needs to go, period. I'm blaming him squarely for this mess and in particular tonight's 2-1 loss.

Not sure anyone really needs a recap of this game, but here's what happened... The Sox somehow managed to screw up a few scoring chances by stupid coaching decisions, but somehow managed to be leading 1-0 due to Tyler Flower's solo HR (yes he also singled and yes he was later pulled for a PH for some unknown reason - must be team policy to pull guys who homered to give the team the lead). Meanwhile Chris Sale was throwing a total gem. Blowing through the Rangers' lineup easily inning after inning. He was perfect before surrendering a weak single up the middle with 2-outs in the 6th. He promptly struck out the next batter. He gave up another single in the 7th, again with 2-outs but then induced a weak come-backer to end that inning too. He then went on to strike out the side in the 8th and left having thrown 111 pitches while yielding 2 hits, walking no one and striking out 14 (FOURTEEN!) The Sox offense continued to sputter but they had their one and Chris Sale was on the mound dominating the Rangers, the streak was all but dead, and then disaster struck and by disaster I mean ROBIN VENTURA!

Normally I wouldn't complain about the Sox bringing in David Robertson to pitch the 9th in a save situation, but I have a little rule and that rule is this... "THERE IS NO GOOD REASON EVER TO PULL A STARTING PITCHER WHO IS IS WORKING ON A 3-HIT (OR BETTER) SHUTOUT UNLESS HIS ARM IS ABOUT TO FALL OFF!" (this goes double (or maybe triple) for a guy who has 14 K and just struck out the side in the 8th) Robin obviously has never heard of this rule or else he's just trolling us and I honestly don't know which at this point in time. In either case Robertson came on, didn't have it, loaded the bases then gave up a single to plate two runs and steal defeat from the jaws of victory. No the Sox didn't score in the bottom half of the 9th though they did manage to get a couple runners on base and all that was left was to shuffle off the field and out of the dugout with the teams 8th straight loss.

Is anyone still reading? Is anyone still watching? Will the Sox be able to recover from this devastating loss in the middle of their worst stretch in years? Honestly I just don't know. It will take some kind of force of will to come back from this one and I don't know if the team has that in the tank at the moment. they have to win sometime. Maybe it will be tomorrow, maybe it will be next week, It probably won't be because of anything Robin Ventura does and that is reason number one to let him go, but tune in tomorrow if you dare and are a glutton for punishment as the Sox take on the Rangers again. Game time is 1:10 in Chicago if anyone still cares...

Rebuilding Recap:
Team isn't going anywhere with the current project leader in charge.
