WSI News - Totally Biased Game Recaps

Luckily, Nobody was Watching

June 15, at Pittsburgh

Sox Project Update:
A bunch of Junk
What a joke

Short Take:Be glad the Blackhawks gave you reason to ignore this steaming pile of trash

Iíll say this for the Sox, if youíre going to lose 11-0, you may as well save that stinker for a night when easily nobody would bother to watch. While the once moribund Blackhawks cemented their legacy as a modern dynasty, the Sox were out getting torn apart by the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Sox defense put up more errors than their offense had hits. Need I say more?

Iíll keep it short and sweet, because Iím sure you donít care. Carlos Rodon, coming off a very impressive string of starts, looked every bit like a rookie with no answers Monday night. By the time he recorded his first out of the game, the Sox were already looking down the barrel of a 5-0 deficit. Considering this lifeless bunch hadnít scored more than 5 runs in a game in nearly two weeks, the remaining 8 innings of so-called ďbaseballĒ was purely empty theater. I will say this for the young Rodon, he pulled himself together and pitched into the 4th, at least saving a few innings of work for the bullpen but all in all his line of the night was 3 2/3 IP, 9 H, 7 ER, 1 BB, and 3 K. I guess if youíre going to pitch poorly, itís better to get it all out in one fell swoop then mix in crap innings in seemingly every start. Ask John Danks how well that works out.

As for the Sox on offense, thereís not a whole lot to comment on here. Facing Francisco Liriano for the first time since his short stint in Chicago in 2012, he gave the Sox a taste of the enigmatic pitcher they let go; reviving the command and dominance he had over the lineup he displayed in 2011 when he no-hit them. Of course, when he actually did pitch for the Sox, he was a bunch of steaming garbage. So is life for the Pale Hose. If youíre looking for actual game recap here, I donít know what to tell you. Alexei Ramirez and Melky Cabrera, easily two of the most disappointing players on a disappointing team heading to disappointing nowhere, each got a hit and accounted for 100% of the Sox offense tonight.

The Sox and Pirates will meet again Tuesday night in the second game of this weird home-and-home four game series, with games 3 and 4 in Chicago. Jose Quintana will take the hill for the Sox against Pittsburghís Charlie Morton. Game time is 6:05 PM Central time and you can watch this one on Comcast Sports Net if you hate yourself.
