WSI News - Totally Biased Game Recaps

May 1st at Twinkies

Sox Project Update:
Basement escalator is stuck in reverse.
Work on the celler was delayed this week by a couple of unscheduled days off.

Short Take:  Qunitana pitches well but Sox offense fails to show. It's Friday, what's new?

Welcome to your Friday recap. Brought to you in part by 5 minute energy drink because you have to drink one every 5 minutes to avoid falling asleep during the game. Once again a Friday comes and once again the bats go silent. Last week they actually managed to win the game that started on Friday, but not until Sunday. That night they managed to put up two whole runs which was double the total from the previous two Friday games combined. Tonight our intrepid wannabes went back to getting shut out so after 4 Friday games the Sox have managed to score a grand total of three runs. So in case you missed it the Sox scored zero tonight and it's damned hard to win when that's the case. Some might say impossible. Even though Jose Quintana and the bullpen managed to hold the Twinkies to one run, it was still one too many and the Sox go down yet again.

There were times tonight it looked like the Sox had a chance to actually put some runs up. Unfortunately whenever that happened they promptly hit in to a double-play or did something equally stupid like waving at a couple of bad pitches before watching the third one as it flies by right down the middle. One of the worst culprits was Tyler Flowers who managed to kill two of these potential rallys including the last hope in the ninth. Tyler also failed to smother a wild pitch from Quintana that led to the game's only run. Not that anyone else on the offense was doing anything amazing or spectacular as the top four in the lineup managed to go 0-16. Quintana was the lone bright spot but even he had problems in the middle innings where he managed to cluster his walks and the aforementioned wild pitch to lead to the game's only run. The bullpen was it's usual steady self, but in the end it didn't matter.

So that's another Friday wrap. In case you missed the news or managed to doze off early in the game, our boys took another one on the chin. The only reason they appear to not be in last place is the two games that got cancelled in Baltimore. They'll give it another go against a guy with an 18.0 ERA tomorrow and hopefully the bats can finally wake up. It would be nice to get the heck out of this celler.

Rebuilding Recap:
Not much to see yet. Progress is slow and inconsistent.
