STOP DIGGING!!!

April 10 Vs. Twinkies

Sox Project Update:
Right fine hole
Got the very beginning of a nice deep basement

Short Take:   Sox got behind early, let things progress badly then got put out of their misery late.

Did you watch the game? If so allow me to express my condolences. I was lucky enough to be working, so I'm writing this based on the feeling of malaise dripping off the box score and the general frustration I felt while following the game online. To say this season is off to a horrible start is so trite as to be utterly moot. The Sox would have fallen off their perch a few days ago if they weren't nailed to it. They've been dead, mostly dead and utterly lifeless for the whole first week of the season and today it peaked as they managed a meager 3 hits and no runs while getting spanked early often and late to lose 6-0 to the supposed future celler dwelling Twinkies who had entered the game winless also.

Game got off to a rough start as the Sox were down 1-0 before a good chunk of the fans made their way to their seats. Once there they were greeted by as anemic a display of baseball as has been seen on opening day in the city for a long time. Noesi wasn't close to good over his 4.2 innings yielding 6 walks but managing to give up only two runs. After that the bullpen wans't putrid with Dan Jennings showing he isn't as bad as his first impressiong, but then Putnum entered and made sure the Sox were not going to comeback and win. Not like the bats were going to make that possible anyway as the Sox only had 5 baserunners all day long though they did manage a couple of doubles. Honestly the word for this performance is "meh".

Not sure why this team is so horrid to start the season, but boring and lifeless is no way to go through life. All that off-season hype is fizzling away and the Sox are digging themselves a hole that's going to be tougher and tougher to get out of if they don't find a way to "dig up". Otherwise it's going to take a lot more than a few nails to keep sox fan butts in the seats this summer. Hopefully they can start laying a foundation tomorrow when they face off against the killer twinkies in game two. With any luck Shark will bite their heads off or else we can always do like King Arthur said and RUN AWAY! RUN AWAY
