That Sucked

August 6, vs. Texas

Daily Sox Crop Report:
Ugly Night
Did anyone remember they had a game to play tonight?

Short Take: Rangers humiliate Danks and Sox in 16-0 rout

Rather than beat a dead horse and try to dissect all that went wrong in John Danksís putrid performance Tuesday night against the Texas Rangers, letís just agree that he didnít have his A-game and just move on? For Danks, his return to the Majors since undergoing major shoulder surgery in 2012 has been a bit of a roller coaster, but Tuesday (hopefully) was the nadir of the experience, as the Rangers tagged him for 9 runs in less than 5 innings of work en route to a 16-0 blowout.

On the other side, Colby Lewis dominated the White Sox offense, as he pitched 6-hit shutout. The highlight was Conor Gillaspie, who managed to get a pair of hits.

I really donít have much more to say on this game. Texas was ahead 3-0 after only a couple of pitches into this game and it kept going downhill from there. Adam Dunn gave the Sox an inning of work in the 9th inning. Every Sox pitcher (Danks, Maikel Cleto, Andre Rienzo, Erik Surkamp, and Dunn) were all charged with an earned run. Texas racked up 18 hits and drew 7 walks (5 off Danks). It was just bad all around, as John Danks seemed especially vulnerable tonight with his changeup, at one time the most dominant pitch in his arsenal, when he went out of the zone with it, the fish werenít biting, and when he worked over the plate with it, it got hitÖ hard.

But, in the end it is just one game. Much like the Sox rebounded from Sundayís drubbing against Minnesota to win an entertaining comeback Monday, tomorrow is another day. Speaking of tomorrow, Chris Sale will get the nod for the Sox in the rubber game of this three-game series and finale of this mixed six-game homestand. He will face Nick Tepesch. First pitch is 1:10 PM Central time and you can catch the game on Comcast Sports Net.

The Futures Market:
16-0 is an ugly score line, but it only counts for 1 in the standings. Better days lie ahead, gentlemen.
