June Sales In

June 6 vs. San Diego

Daily Sox Crop Report:
Flowers were blooming
New crops didn't yield much, but the walnut trees produced big yields.

Short Take:   Chris Sale and Paul Konerko were all the Sox needed on this first day of June.

June got off to a great start as the Sox won on the strength of Chris Sales' 2-hit complete game and Paul Konerko's 3-RBI performance as the Sox beat the Padres 4-1 to salvage a game from the series and climb back to .500.

Other than Sale and Konerko the Sox were mostly dorment, managing just 4 other hits and one walk. It definitely wasn't one of their better offensive performances. The M&M boys (Marcos and Moises) went 0-6 with Semien being sent down after the game to make room for Jose Abreu's return. No one else had more than a single hit. Fortunately Paulie "Walnuts" Konerko had a couple of timely ones including an early game solo shot and a very timely 2-out double in the 6th to power the tank and missle across the plate and give Chris Sale more than enough breathing room.

Oh yeah... Chris Sale... THAT Chris Sale...The Ace, Chris Sale... The Rock, Chris Sale... The guy making just his second start after an early stint on the disabled list that had Sox fans worried for his future. Fortunately the muscle prolbem more than resolved itself in the two weeks he was out and Sale has come back to post back to back dominant outings and leave everyone feeling relaxed and happy that he's a White Sox. Sale was simply dominant today, jumping out in front of Padre hitters regularly, striking out nine and walking none while throwing 8 perfect innings sandwiched around the fifth where the Padres managed their two meager hits including the homer that briefly tied the score. When the next man singled he was promptly erased on a 6-4-3 DP and Sale... um... sailed home after that retiring the final 11 hitters he faced. Ah... it's good to be the king.

The sox travel to LA next for 6 straight split between the NL and AL teams. Abreu will be back and the Sox should lead to a lot more Sox runs. How this year plays out is anyone's guess, but for today things are looking up. Nothing but late games this week, with tomorrow's game starting at 9:10 Chicago time. Quintana faces Kershaw so if your down there in SoCal go get a ticket and enjoy the show.

The Futures Market:
Buy now! Abreu comes back tomorrow. Consider this your insider trading tip of the day.
