July 26 vs Kansas City

Sox took a break from filming and went and had their nails done.

Short Take:   The Sox offense wasted another good pitching effort and lose to KC 5-1.

At 40-60, the White Sox are just continuing to play out this dreadful season. With trade rumors continuing to circulate, the only thing interesting is what moves are going to be made before the trade deadline. On Friday night, the Sox wasted a good pitching effort by Jose Quintana in a 5-1 loss to Kansas City.

As has been the case for the whole season, the Sox offense went dormant to spoil another good pitching performance. Granted, the Sox were facing James Shields, one of the better pitchers in the AL. He threw seven shutout innings to earn the win. However, Quintana held his own. He only allowed two earned runs over seven innings to go with five strikeouts.

A David Lough solo homer and an RBI sac fly to Miguel Tejada accounted for the only runs charged to Quintana.

The only "excitement" for the Sox came in the eighth when Conor Gillaspie hit a solo homer off of KC reliever Kelvin Herrera.

Further suckage occurred in the top of the eighth. Matt Lindstrom came on and promptly walked Billy Butler. Of course, three hits, a sac fly, and an error by Casper Wells followed that added three runs to make it 5-1 Royals.

We went quietly in the ninth to end any "threat."

We play again today, July 27th at 6:10 p.m. Chris Sale will face Wade Davis.
