Floyd Tarred and Feathered

The offense tried to rebuild, but Floyd provided all the explosives.

Short Take:   Floyd falters again as Cardinals beat White Sox

It was another one of those Gavin Floyd starts again, as the White Sox lost the series finale against the Cardinals, 5-3.

Floyd lasted 4.2 innings, and he didn't pitch well. He gave up five runs on eight hits and four walks. He did strike out five, but he gave up a two-run home run to David Freese. The bullpen came out and pitched the remaining 3.1 innings practically flawlessly. Will Ohman finished out the fifth, Zach Stewart pitched a perfect sixth, Jesse Crain only issued a walk in the seventh, and Matt Thornton only gave up a hit in the eighth.

The offense was a little on the anemic side. It took until the fifth inning for the Sox to even get a baserunner when Paul Konerko broke up Jake Westbrook's perfect game. That was Konerko's only hit of the night, but he is still batting .364 on the season. Alejandro De Aza, Gordon Beckham, AJ Pierzynski, and Adam Dunn each picked up the other four hits in the game. Dunn batted in all three runs on a home run in the sixth inning. Dunn and Orlando Hudson each picked up a walk.

The Sox head to LA to face the Dodgers. Chris Sale and his 2.05 ERA are up against Clayton Kershaw and his 2.65 ERA. It'll be a great game to watch tomorrow night.
