Buehrle Stays in Control

August 11 vs. Baltimore Orioles

Levels Finished:
Mario was eager to quickly start off his date with the princess, so he sprinted to the finish with lightning speed before the first fireball could be aimed at him!

Short Take:Early hitting and solid pitching by Mark Buehrle helped lead the Sox to a series victory in Baltimore.

The Sox came out of this road trip to Minnesota and Baltimore with a solid A performance. With a sweep of the Twins already in hand, we were a Mark Buehrle victory away from taking both series. And taking both series we did, as the Sox punched a huge hole in this one early and cruised the rest of the way, doubling up the Orioles in this series closer 6-3.

Chris Tillman obviously slept on the wrong side of the bed last night, as he allowed the first five Sox batters to reach safely. Juan Pierre got things started off with a single and came home on a bomb to left hit by The Cuban Missile. Then came three straight two-baggers (Paulie Walnuts, THE Carlos Quentin and AJ Pierzynski), scoring another pair of runs. A couple frames later, our Palehose added fuel on the fire. Adam Dunn actually walked, then Brent Morel got him to third with the help of a throwing gaffe, and both scored on an infield single by Pierre.

Exit Tillman.

Baltimore scored a trio of runs in the bottom of the third, including a two-run shot by Nick Markakis. But, that would be the only time they would contribute to the story of this game. Both the Sox and Baltimore pitching held each other off the box score for the final 2/3 of the game.

The Sox finished this road trip with a 6-1 record (and could've very well finished with a perfect road trip had they not failed to capitalize on a great scoring opportunity in the 8th last night). Four home stands remain. Three road trips remain. I'm not so sure I like that, since our Sox play so much better on the road. We welcome Kansas City, Cleveland, and Texas during the upcomming home schedule. If we come out of the following 9-game stretch 6-3, we should be in good standing. First things first, we have got to pound the Royals and their bad pitching. Tomorrow night, Cy Chen takes the mound for Kansas City. Zach Stewart will try to win his second game in a week for our guys. Will we get back to .500? We can only hope! Different time (7:10), different place (home), different channel (WCIU).

Whoever doubt my lineup don't know baseball!
