WSI News - Totally Biased Game Recaps

Same Garbage Different Day

July 8 vs Minnesota

Levels Finished:
The offense reached the top early before barrels and a fireball named Luke Hughes ended their night.

Short Take:Sox get out to an early lead only to, like clockwork, implode as the Sox lose to the Twinkies 8-5.

It's no secret, none of us like the Minnesota Twins. I personally hate the Minnesota Twins, for a number of reasons that are too long to mention here. I love the White Sox, always have, since I was kid going to my first game in 1981. However, the problem is this, it's hard for me to love or even like this team right now. And I think that creates just as much frustration as watching this team on the field. We deserve a regime that can coach and demand excellence, not this tip your cap to the other team crap that we've heard a thousand times this year. This starts with beating the Minnesota Twins. After Friday night's loss, the Sox are 0-6 against Minnesota this year and have lost 28 of their last 34 games with the Twins. That's unacceptable, plain and simple. We need a coaching staff in there that demands better and will accept no less, not give us lame postgame interviews where they have no answers. Keep in mind, too, this is basically a AAA to AAAA Minnesota team that we've been losing to, which includes Friday night's 8-5 debacle.

It all started so well for the Sox, too. After the Twins went up 1-0, the Sox we expected to see earlier in the year came to life in the bottom of the first. Alexei Ramirez and Paul Konerko started the inning with a single and double, respectively. Adam Dunn then hit a towering two-run homer to right to quickly make it 3-1 Sox. Alex Rios and Carlos Quentin added doubles of their own before Gordon Beckham singled in Rios to put the Sox up 5-1 off Twins starter Nick Blackburn.

In the top of the fourth, with the score 5-2, it all fell apart for Sox starter Gavin Floyd. He loaded the bases after allowing two singles and hitting Joe Mauer with a pitch. Michael Cuddyer followed with an RBI single to make it 5-3. Some .164 hitting Minnesota scrub outfielder named Rene Tosoni came up next and hit a two-run single to tie the game at 5-5. Floyd's night was over as he was relieved by Will Ohman. Another no name player, Luke Hughes, put the final nail in the coffin by hitting a three-run bomb off of Ohman to put the Twins up 8-5.

Gavin Floyd (6-9) was charged with seven runs on nine hits, two walks and three strikeouts in only 3.2 innings of work. Wonderful.

The rest of the game, Minnesota threw an array of garbage 6+ ERA relievers out there that the Sox offense had no answer for. We're not talking about Mariano Rivera, we're talking about the likes of Phil Dumatrait, Alex Burnett, and a half-healthy Joe Nathan. We could do absolutely nothing with any of those guys. Even their closer, Matt Capps, isn't good and it was another 123 inning to end the game.

If you can stomach anymore of this garbage, the Sox play Saturday, July 9th at 3:10 p.m. Mark Buehrle (6-5, 3.66 ERA) will face Brian Duensing (6-7, 4.25 ERA). The game will be on FOX.

Ozzio's Game Rant:
"Gardy beat us goo with AAA ballclub. He prolly best manager on the face of the planet. I even see Hawk resting his head in Gardenhire's lap after the game asking Ron to tell him story of what it feels like to win while massaging his temple."
