Humber and Homers Stop Seattle

June 7 vs. Mariners

Levels Finished:
5
King Felix couldn't throw fireballs to save his life and the Sox passed all levels.

Short Take:   Humber pitches yet another gem as Sox beat Mariners again

Phil Humber.

Phil freakin' Humber.

Who knew that Jake Peavy's "replacement" would turn out to be so incredibly good? Humber took to the mound to face the Seattle Mariners and King Felix.

Humber went 7.2 innings, giving up one earned run on five hits and three walks, before Chris Sale came on in relief, giving up only one hit in 1.1 innings. The Sox beat the Mariners 5-1.

Humber now has a 5-3 record and the White Sox are now just three games under .500 and six games behind of the recently slumping Cleveland Indians.

The Sox got on the board first in the second inning when Paul Konerko led off with a solo homer to left, his 14th of the season. The scoring continued in the third. Felix Hernandez walked Gordon Beckham and gave up a single to Brent Morel to lead off the inning.

With Beckham at third and Morel on first Juan Pierre reached on a fielder's choice. Beckham was out at home, and Morel moved to second. With Morel on second and Pierre on first, Omar Vizquel...OMAR. VIZQUEL...hit a triple to right, scoring Morel and Pierre and giving the Sox a 3-0 lead.

Immediately following those two runs scoring, Carlos Quentin hit his 15th homer of the season, a two-run shot to left. The Sox were on top 5-0.

The only trouble Humber got into was in the fourth inning. Humber got Jack Cust to strike out swinging but gave up a walk to Adam Kennedy. Kennedy moved to third on a single by Franklin Gutierrez and scored on a Miguel Olivo sac fly to left.

The Sox go for the sweep tomorrow night. Gavin Floyd is going for his seventh win of the season and faces lefty Jason Vargas.

WSI's
Ozzio's Game Rant:
Humber, you peetch good. I like you. Especially since Peavy back on the $!@*%#& DL.
