A Home Win! A Split!

May 17 vs. Rangers

Levels Finished:
Danks struggled but thanks to Morel's home run and two stellar defensive plays, the Sox dodged most of Texas' barrels.

Short Take:   Danks struggles but Morel's home run helps seal the win

A win? At home?

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, the White Sox won at home, beating the Texas Rangers 4-3. Behind a wonderful performance from third baseman Brent Morel, the Sox picked up their sixth win at US Cellular Field this season.

Morel lit up the scoreboard in the fifth inning with a three-run home run to tie the game. Sox starter John Danks didn't have a great game but left with a no- decision after 6.1 innings.

Danks allowed six walks, three of which crossed home for the Rangers' runs. He only allowed four hits, but he threw 113 pitches in 6.1 innings. Danks still has yet to earn a win this season, despite having six quality starts in nine outings.

The Sox broke a 3-3 tie in the eighth inning. Gordon Beckham moved into third on a single from Dallas McPherson, whose contract was purchased from Triple-A Charlotte after Mark Teahen was placed on the disabled list. Beckham scored on Cody Eppley's wild pitch, providing Jesse Crain with the win and Eppley with the loss.

Morel saved potential runs twice in the game, once in the fifth and once in the eighth inning. If not for Morel's stellar plays, the Sox may have lost this game.

Sergio Santos picked up the save and extended his consecutive scoreless appearance streak to 16 and his scoreless innings streak to 20.

The AL Central-leading Cleveland Indians come to town for a short two-game set tomorrow. Jake Peavy is set to make his second start of the season against Justin Masterson.

Ozzio's Game Rant:
A win at home is sure nice. And I like thees Morel keed. He need do more like dat.
