WSI News - Totally Biased Game Recaps

Accountability? Not here

May 4 vs. Minnesota

Levels Finished:
Team sucks at everything and fails at life.

Short Take: Mental mistakes, inept offense and poor fielding. In other words, more of the same.

Good morning, Ozzie Guillen. We've picked on your hitting coach enough the last two weeks. Now, it's your turn on the hot seat. Care to explain to me why your team makes so damn many mental mistakes?

The White Sox looked just flat stupid in Wednesday's 3-2 loss to the hated Minnesota Twins. There was Juan Pierre getting picked off first base (again) in the very first inning. There was Carlos Quentin getting doubled off on a line drive in the second inning. There was Omar Vizquel getting thrown out from here to China on stolen base attempt in the fifth inning. What the hell was that? A botched hit-and-run? This team makes enough outs with its bats. We don't need to give away outs on the basepaths, too, Oz.

Of course, the bad baserunning pales in comparison to the play that ultimately cost the Sox this game. With the score tied 1-1 in the top of the sixth and Denard Span on first for the Twins, Matt Tolbert tried to give the Sox an out by laying down a sacrifice bunt. Mark Teahen fielded the bunt but had nowhere to throw the ball because nobody bothered to cover first base. Gack. Is this Little League? Apparently, the 44-year-old Vizquel had a senior moment there. With first baseman Paul Konerko charging on the bunt, Vizquel should have covered the base.

He didn't, and all of a sudden the Twins had men on first and second with nobody out. It should have been man at second, one out. Two deep fly balls and a base hit later, Minnesota had two gift runs and an "insurmountable" 3-1 lead.

Poor John Danks (0-5). He deserves so much better. He worked eight innings, giving up the three runs. As we stated, two of them were not his fault. He should sue the position players for non-support. You would think a guy with a respectable 3.83 ERA would have a win by now, but you would be wrong.

And, oh, Greg Walker's mental midgets took their usual dirt nap against another crap pitcher. Nick Blackburn entered Wednesday's game with a 1-4 record and a 5.14 ERA. Well, he's 2-4 now after allowing only four hits over 6 2/3 innings. What new? Alex Rios (3-for-4) hit a solo home run off Blackburn, but other than that the worthless Twin right-hander was just too much to handle.

The Sox had first and second with no outs in the fourth. They didn't score. They had first and third with one out in the eighth. They settled for one run on a Paul Konerko sac fly. The Sox had two men on in the ninth inning, but the mediocre fastball of Minnesota closer Matt Capps was too much for both Vizquel and Pierre. Both flew out with the tying run in scoring position. The losing continues. The beat goes on.

But don't fear, Sox fans! The team is going on a nine-game West Coast road trip starting Friday night in Seattle! I'm sure they'll turn it around against the reigning Cy Young award winner, Felix Hernandez (3-2, 3.21 ERA). Right-hander Phil Humber (2-3, 3.06 ERA) will get the start for the Sox. Game time is 9:10 on Comcast SportsNet. If I were you, I wouldn't go out of my way to watch.

Ozzio's Game Rant:
People ask me what is wrong with the White Sox. I no have any idea.
