Anemic Offense Strikes Again

April 19 at Rays

Levels Finished:
Danks pitched well, but the Sox offense kept getting hit by the barrels and fireballs the Rays kept throwing.

Short Take:   Danks pitches well but lacks support. Again.

The White Sox did it again. Behind great pitching from John Danks, the Sox lost their sixth game in a row. The Rays took this one 2-1.

Like most of his starts, Danks pitched well. He gave up two runs on seven hits in seven innings. He gave up a triple to Ben Zobrist in the first after Alex Rios was unable to come up with the ball quickly enough. Zobrist came around to score after Felipe Lopez grounded out to Gordon Beckham. In the fifth inning, Zobrist singled. The next batter, Sean Rodriguez, tripled and Zobrist scored.

The White Sox were unable to score more than a run. In the top of the fifth, Carlos Quentin doubled to left. AJ Pierzynski singled and drove him in for the only Sox run.

The Sox only managed to get four hits, one each from Pierre, Beckham, Quentin and Pierzynski. Dunn struck out three of his four times at the plate, and Quentin struck out twice. This offense has become anemic.

Ozzie sent Jesse Crain out for the eighth, and for once, the bullpen didn't give up a plethora of runs. Crain came in and didn't give up a hit or allow a walk. In fact, he struck out one.

The Sox send Phil Humber to the mound tomorrow night at 5:40 to face Wade Davis. Humber looks for his second win of the season, as does Davis. You can catch the game on Comcast SportsNet.

Ozzio's Game Rant:
Again with the #*$@%!& lack of run support. Thees es no bueno.
