The South Side Hitmen Are Back!

April 1 at Cleveland

Levels Finished:
The Sox flipped the score past 999,999 and actually reset it back to zero.

Short Take:   It was an Opening Day for the ages, as the White Sox destroyed the Indians with 14 unanswered runs through the first four innings. What a way to begin the 2011 season!

The Sox opened the 2011 campaign in grand style, with an offensive barrage against the lowly Cleveland Indians. Mark Buehrle took the mound for his 9th Opening Day start in the past decade for the White Sox, facing Cleveland’s Fausto Carmona. When the dust finally settled after the Sox offensive massacre against Indian pitching, the Sox were victorious by a score of 15-10.

Every player in the Sox starting lineup had at least one hit, except for Alex Rios, who has traditionally struggled against Carmona. Gordon Beckham and Carlos Quentin racked up three hits. Adam Dunn only had two hits, but absolutely crushed two balls, including the first White Sox homer of the season.. Carlos Quentin drove in five runs, including a homer of his own, just barely clearing the leftfield wall.

Carmona is credited with the loss here, giving up 11 hits in three innings of work, including 10 earned runs. Buehrle’s smooth first five innings of work, before a small hiccup in the sixth, earned him the victory. Don’t worry yourself with the garbage time numbers at the end of the game, although Will Ohman better start getting lefthanded hitters out pretty soon.

The Sox try to extend their 2011 winning streak tomorrow and go 2-0 on the season. Keep it going.

Ozzio's Game Rant:
Will Ohman, get your %?$%# together in garbage time!
