WSI News - Totally Biased Game Recaps

August 26 vs. Baltimore

Alex Rios
No one

Rios went 3-for-4 and had three RBIs. I can't exile anyone since no one really played badly.

Short Take:   Sox take series behind Jackson's stellar start

After dropping the second game against the Orioles, the White Sox looked to take the series with a win Thursday night. The Sox sent Edwin Jackson to the mound, and the Orioles sent Jake Arrieta. Jackson pitched a solid eight innings, only giving up three hits and two walks while striking out ten. Tony Pena came on in relief, and the Sox beat the Orioles 8-0 to win the series.

The Sox got on the board in the first inning. After Juan Pierre grounded out, Arrieta walked Omar Vizquel and Alex Rios. Paul Konerko struck out swinging, but Carlos Quentin hit a bloop single to center, scoring Vizquel and moving Rios to third. Arrieta then walked AJ Pierzynski to load the bases. Unfortunately, Alexei Ramirez popped out to right, ending the inning.

Runs crossed the plate again in the third. With one out, Rios singled to right. During Konerko's at-bat, Rios stole second. He scored on a Konerko single to center, giving the Sox a 2-0 lead. But the scoring didn't stop there. With two outs, Pierzynski singled to left, moving Konerko to second, and Ramirez singled to left, scoring Konerko.

The Sox would score again in the fourth. With one out, Pierre bunt singled to Arrieta, and during Vizquel's at-bat, Pierre attempted to steal second base. Arrieta committed an error, so Pierre moved to second anyway. During Rios's at-bat, Pierre stole third base, which was his 50th stolen base of the season. Rios singled to center, scoring Pierre and giving the Sox a 4-0 lead after four innings.

Arrieta only lasted four innings before he was replaced by Rick VandenHurk. To lead off the fifth, Quentin singled to center, and he moved into third on a Pierzynski double. Ramirez reached on a fielding error by Cesar Izturis, loading the bases with no outs. Mark Teahen singled to right, scoring Quentin and keeping the bases loaded for Gordon Beckham. Beckham grounded into a double play, but Pierzynski scored, putting the Sox up 6-0. The Sox scored their last two runs in the eighth inning on a two-run Rios homer to left.

The Yankees come to town this weekend. Freddy Garcia faces AJ Burnett on Blackhawks Night. You can catch the game at 7:10 on Comcast SportsNet.

TBGR Diary:
I'm a huge AJ Pierzynski fan, so I'm incredibly happy that he's been hitting well lately. I hope he can keep this up and that the Sox keep winning. Three and a half games isn't a huge deficit. They can do it.
