WSI News - Totally Biased Game Recaps

We're Gavin a Good Time!

July 27 vs. Seattle Mariners

The Chicago White Sox

This was a true team victory.

Short Take:Gavin Floyd is dealing while our Sox' bats send Ryan Rowland-Smith reeling.

Sure, Ryan Rowland-Smith had a 1-9 record going into tonight's game against the Mariners. Sure, his ERA sits at nearly a touchdown + PAT. Sure, the M's struggle to score runs. Seattle still is a major league team that should not be taken lightly. Gavin Floyd and our Sox' bats made sure they cashed in before the M's could even wake up and realize the game had started in a thorough 11-0 thrashing of the Mariners.

The first two runners for the Sox reached safely. Juan Pierre singled, stole second, and scored on a single by The Cuban Missile. The next pair of batters were retired; but, two-out magic has been something our Sox have actually had success with the past month and a half. THE Carlos Quentin walked TCM over to second, became "ducks on the pond" on a wild pitch by Rowland-Smith, and scored on a single by AJ Pierzynski. Tank Viciedo continued the hit parade by doubling in AJ. A nice 4-spot in the opening frame was really all that was necessary for the South Siders tonight! But, it wasn't all they would get!

The Sox increased their lead by 75% with round-trippers by TCM (scoring Bacon) and Paulie Walnuts (solo) in the next frame. Adding a run in the 3rd, they decided to take an inning off before Andruw Jones launched a three-run dinger of his own. Hawk Harrelson's voice began to crack a little! Meanwhile, the Mariners were unable to solve Floyd, as he scattered 5 hits over his 7 innings of work. Matt Thornton and Tony Pena both combined for a pair of scoreless frames, sealing the deal on the shutout!

Our Sox look to improve their 7-1 record against Seattle tomorrow night. Jason Vargas takes on Mark Buehrle. The game should be done in 1 hour and 20 minutes if Buehrle has his way, so make sure you tune in quickly...Same time, same place, same channe.

TBGR Diary:
It's a darn shame we don't get to face the Mariners more often...We're currently 7-1 against them with 2 games to go.
