WSI News - Totally Biased Game Recaps

Floyd's Woes Continue

May 4th vs. Kansas City Royals

Juan Pierre
Gavin Floyd

Juan's wheels accounted for half of the Sox' runs. Meanwhile, Gavin didn't put the team in a good position.

Short Take:Gavin Floyd continued his struggles in the 2010 campaign by being dominated by Royal hitters.

Whatever Gavin Floyd ate during the offseason, he should try to to regurgitate. He has had a pretty dismal season to this point, and nothing was different tonight at home against the lowly KC Royals. Gavin gave up 13 hits in 6.3 innings in a 7-2 loss.

Things didn't start off the greatest, as the Royals scored a pair of single runs in the first two frames, compliments of two ex-Palehose. David DeJesus doubled to lead off the game, advanced on a bunt single by Scott Podsednik, and came home on a DP hit by Billy Butler. Chris Getz bit the hand that once fed him as well, as he recorded an RBI single the next frame.

Speedy Juan Pierre bunted on in the third, stole second and third, and scored on a throwing error by Jason Kendall to cut the Royal lead in half, but that would be all the real threat the Palehose would produce tonight.

The 2-1 Royal lead remained until the final third of the game, where the game was pretty much put away. After Getz singled and stole second, DeJesus advanced him to third, leading to scoring plays for three straight batters. Podsednik got Getz in, followed by a single by Butler, and a 2-run bomb by Jose Guillen.

AJ Pierzynski (bottom of the seventh) and Mike Aviles (top of the ninth) both homered to give the Palehose and Royals an extra run, which accounted for the rest of the scoring.

Tomorrow, the fifth starter will try to win the series for the Palehose. Freddy Garcia will tow the rubber against Brian Bannister. Same time, same place, different channel (CSN +2--because the Blackhawks' playoff game will be on regular CSN--LET'S GO HAWKS!!!).
