WSI News - Totally Biased Game Recaps

Bobby = Bad

July 21st vs. Tampa Rays

KW's Daily Special:
A blank dessert menu
Sorry...We're too busy tracking down the dude that ran out without paying the check to be able to offer you something before you go.

Short Take:Bobby Jenks blows a well-pitched game by Clayton Richard.

The tables certainly were turned tonight. One would've thought before the game began that Clayton Richard would look shaky and Bobby Jenks would pick up the slack in the end with a hit parade in between. The opposite became reality as Jenks looked everything but dominant the second night in a row, this time blowing a well-pitched game by Richard. Sox lose 3-2 at home to Tampa.

Richard scattered four hits over eight innings. He certainly pitched like he wanted to be given another chance to start. The lone run the visitors would plate against Richard came in the third on a sac fly by Evan Longoria.

The 1-0 Tampa lead lasted only a couple frames. The first two men (AJ & TCQ) got on base off of Jeff Niemann. After Chris Getz erased TCQ on a fielder's choice, the next two batters plated runs, as Bacon doubled in AJ, while Scotty Pods knocked in Getz.

Meanwhile, Richard kept on throwing the heat, limiting what Tampa could do...until Bobby Jenks came in. If you thought last night was bad for Jenks, this one truly takes the cake! Jenks sucked about as much as a closer can truly suck. He loaded the bases without recording an out and allowed Tampa to plate a pair of runs to take the lead. What the heck has happened to his command? Our Sox couldn't get the equalizer in their half of the final frame, as JP Howell actually did his job.

If you hear of a homicide in the 60616 zip code of Chicago tonight, it could very well have something to do with this game and a pair of pitchers who will be left unnamed. And I wouldn't blame him. A team can't be throwing away possible wins like tonight, when we throw a starter out there tomorrow night who is making his debut. James Shields (6-6, 3.75) tows the rubber against Carlos Torres. Same time, same place, different channel (WCIU).

Critic's Corner:
Bobby being bad erased all the good that happened tonight...Poor Clayton Richard!
