Konerko Says: "Back up the Choo-Choo Train!"

July 7th vs. Cleveland Injuns

KW's Daily Special:
Eagle Rare on the Rocks
Nothing like a little bourbon to complete Happy Hour.

Short Take:Shin-So Choo did what he could early to get the Tribe's train going, but Paul Konerko backed that train up, having himself a memorable night in the process, on a tepid evening on the right side of Chicago.

After a Soxessful 5-2 road trip visiting the 2 divisional bottom-feeders, Sox All Star Mark Buehrle was set to face off against Jeremy Sowers, who was 0-3 this season against our Palehose before tonight's game. Paulie Walnuts made sure that record went to 0-4 as he single-handedly put the Sox on his back and led the way to a fine 10-6 slug fest over the Cleveland Injuns.

The second batter of the game Grady Sized Buehrle up immediately by hitting a deep fly ball way past the Bullpen Bar and into the seats, which gave the Tribe a very quick 1-0 lead. Fortunately the lead did not last long, as the man of the evening Paul Konerko decided to go long himself in the bottom of the next frame, knotting this one up at one run a piece.

The Choo Choo Train hit Buehrle in the Shin twice, as the train went home twice--once in the fourth on a single by Pronk, and once all by itself in the sixth. You see, the Choo Choo Train thought it could, and it did!

The Cuban Missile launched a double in the sixth, advanced to the next station with Jermaine Dye's grounder past Asdrubal Cabrera, and Big Jim took a walk on the wild side, setting the stage for Walnuts to tango with Chris Perez. Perez threw Walnuts a salami ball that was crushed into the left field seats! Thank you Cardinals for helping us out! Cleveland wasn't out of the woods yet, as Bacon doubled home Nix before the frame concluded.

Our Palehose kept pushing the gas pedal as TCM and Walnuts each hit two-run bombs the next frame. That's right, Walnuts had a 3-HR, 7-RBI night, folks! Fantasy baseball players everywhere are either cursing up a storm for having him on the bench or having a celebratory Eagle Rare on the rocks for having him in their lineup tonight!

Cleveland doubled their run total in what shall be known as "garbage time." That's how you beat the worst team in the division, boys and girls! You simply outmuscle them like you should. We are now 6-4 against the Tribe and look to have more of the same good stuff happening tomorrow night as Jose Contreras will hope to make things a Laffey matter. Same time, same place, different channel (WCIU).

Critic's Corner:
Give Paul Konerko five stars on his own!
