No sweep for us

May 27 at Los Angeles Angels

KW's Daily Special:
Leftover meatloaf
It's OK, but it's not really good enough

Short Take:Jered Weaver continues his mastery of Sox hitters and the South Siders fail to complete the sweep, falling 3-1 to the Angels.

Angels' right-hander Jered Weaver entered Wednesday's game with a 3-0 lifetime record against the White Sox, including a 0.34 ERA. Unfortunately, Weaver continued his dominance with eight innings of one-run ball, sending our Sox to a 3-1 defeat. For the third consecutive series, the Sox won the first two games of a three-game set, but could not close the deal.

The Sox jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the fourth when Jermaine Dye singled, advanced to third on a double by Jim Thome and scored on a sacrifice fly by Paul Konerko. Unfortunately, that was all the offense the Sox could muster for the evening.

A complete-game effort by Gavin Floyd went to waste in the loss. Floyd had just one bad inning - the sixth - where he gave up three runs. That bastard Sox killer Bobby Abreu took a dump in our cereal again with a two-run double. An intentional walk to Kendry Morales also backfired on Sox skipper Ozzie Guillen, when Juan Rivera doubled home Abreu to give the Angels their third and final run.

The Sox will have an off day tomorrow before heading to Kansas City for a three-game weekend set. Clayton Richard (1-0, 3.55 ERA) will take the ball for the South Siders on Friday. He will be opposed by Brian Bannister (4-1, 2.79 ERA) in a matchup of two pitchers who have been throwing the ball well lately.

Critic's Corner:
One star for Floyd, who was pretty good. But that's about it.
