The Curse of the Never Seen Before Pitcher

April 21 @ Baltimore Orioles

KW's Daily Special:
Seriously, who'd want to eat tonight's special?

Short Take:The Sox still can't seem to find their bats against pitchers they haven't seen before.

It has been a common theme for our Sox for a long time now. Facing a pitcher they haven't seen regularly spells doom. Knowing they'd face a pitcher making his Major League debut, our Sox must have left their bats at their hotel, as they were not very challenging for Brad Bergesen. Meanwhile, Jose Contreras didn't look sharp for the third time in a row to start the season. Perhaps he's not as healthy as he says he is? Anyways, the Palehose lost tonight in Baltimore 10-3.

The O's waited a few innings before starting things off. Aubry Huff hit a two-run shot, which hugged the left field foul pole, off of Contreras in the bottom of the third inning.

Fortunately, Ty Wiggington helped give those runs back in the top of the next frame. After Chris Getz walked, TCQ hit safely on Wiggington's error. Jermaine Dye and Paul Konerko singled them in. With ducks on the pond and nobody out, BA knocked in AJ the very next inning. Unfortunately, our Sox couldn't do anything more with their golden opportunity at a big inning, leading by one halfway through this one.

Baltimore's hit parade extended from the fifth through the eighth innings, as they tacked on a pair of runs in each frame to complete the scoring with very little resistence from our Palehose. Hopefully John Danks won't have similar problems tomorrow when he tows the rubber against Jeremy Guthrie. You can see it at the same time, in the same place, on a different channel (WCIU).

Critic's Corner:
Well done, Jose! You were out-dueled by someone making their Major League debut!
