WSI News - Totally Biased Game Recaps

I've Seen This Movie Before

September 24 at Minnesota Twins

Sox Magic Number:
This hasn't gone down for a few days...

Short Take:   Sox continue their usual Minnesota meltdown.

Well, simply put. Tomorrow is the biggest game of the 2008 season. A loss puts the Twins in first place by a 1/2 game while they get to play the Minnesota. The Sox get to play the red hot Cleveland Indians who would just love to screw the Sox when it matters the most.

Mark Buehrle pitched his heart out tonight. The first two innings seemed like this was going to be a repeat of Javier Vazquez's choke job last night. Buehrle surrendered a lead off walk to start in the game in the first to Denard Span who came around to score on a Joe Mauer force out.

The Sox tied the game right away in their half of the second. Jim Thome led off with a double, then scored two batters later on Ken Griffey's ground out.

Buehrle was the victim of a bad call at second base and typical Twins baseball the bottom half of the second. Brendan Harris led off with a single but was erased on a force out off the bat of Nick Punto. Carlos Gomez then put down a bunt, and of course was safe setting up runners on first and second with one out. Span singled putting the Twins up 2-1. The Twins went up 3-1 on a Alexi Castilla force out.

That was all Buehrle would give up. From there, Buehrle was the opposite of the choker Javier Vazquez. Mark went seven innings giving up the three runs and eight hits on 121 pitches. It's too bad the rest of the team has yet to show up to the dome.

Ken Griffey Jr. hit a solo home run to get the Sox within one in the fourth, but that was all the Sox could muster up against Nick ****ing Blackburn.

Our gutless team is one loss away from a repeat of their infamous Minnesota meltdown of 2003. For now, the Sox remain a 1/2 game in first place. Gavin Floyd will take the mound in what will be the biggest game of the year. Game time is 7:10pm on Comcast SportsNet.

Please win.

Quest For the Final Table Update:
Buehrle gives it his all. Sox bats don't care.
