WSI News - Totally Biased Game Recaps

Eat it Sammy Sosa!

September 23rd @ Baggie Dome Snack Cakes

Sox Magic Number:
"If we have more games like this, our playoff chances could cinco!"

Short Take:Jr. launched round-tripper #610, surpassing the ultimate steroid master's total. Unfortunately that was during junk time when Mr. "Can't Pitch When it REALLY Matters" Vazquez already sealed tonight's fate.

Best Buy must have a deal going with Ron Gardenhire whenever our Palehose go up to the Baggie Dome. Droves of Sox fans from around the nation must constantly purchase new television sets due to flying objects in their front rooms as a result of the constant junk that happens to our team in that joke of a ballpark. The heat that Sox fans collectively threw at their TV sets tonight was better than anything Javier Vazquez threw from the mound, proving Ozzie was right: he is not a big-game pitcher. If we make it to the post-season, he's definitely the last starter in the rotation. Javy lasted only four innings and set our Sox up for another night of embarrassment, which turned into a 9-3 outcome in favor of the Snack Cakes.

One just knew that this wasn't going to be our night from the top of the second frame, when Jim Thome and Paul Konerko both reached base safely to start things off (runners on the corners, that is), but our Palehose were only able to plate a single run! The 1-0 Sox lead was incredibly short-lived, as Justin Morneau led off with a 4-pitch walk and scored on a home run by who else but Jason Kubel. Two innings later, Javy gave up a big crooked number. Kubel tripled to lead things off, scored on a double by Delmon Young, who scored on a bunt single to Javy by Nick Punto (just horrible effort on that one, Javy!). To close the deal in the frame, the man Hawk Harrelson dreams about more than Carl Pohland dreams about money (Carlos Gomez, that is) singled in Punto.

Exit Javy. Enter bullpen, who didn't do much better, if that was possible. Clayton Richard gave up a pair of runs in the next inning, while Boooooooooooooooooooone Logan gave up another pair in the seventh, which included another long ball to Kubel (if he somehow lands on the DL for the rest of the season, may it be known that it wasn't my doing). Even if a UFO came to the Baggie Dome and abducted that entire team and coaching staff, replacing them with 10 aliens, we'd still have to endure the same crap that constantly goes on in that dump. Fortunately, after next year, the Snack Cakes won't have the comfort of that ballpark to assist them to about half their victories.

The only real positive that came from this one was that Ken Griffey Jr. surpassed the steroid king Sammy Sosa on the all-time home run list, launching #610 in the 9th...when this one was all but decided. We'll have to get those losers tomorrow night. The pitching match-up heavily favors us. Tune in to see Nick Blackburn get upstaged by Mark Buehrle! Same time, same place, different channel (CSN).

Quest For the Final Table Update:
A blind-folded Jamie Navarro would've given us a better chance tonight.
