WSI News - Totally Biased Game Recaps

Winning Ugly, but So What?

August 10th vs Boston Red Sox

"These ain't your daddy's White Sox... We're going to keep going after a championship as aggressively as we can."

KW's Hole Cards:
Can I buy an Ace?

Short Take: It counts, so we'll take it! Sox win 6-5.

Oh, goody! Yet another ďmust-winĒ game. It didnít start off well for the Sox. Without going into details, out, double, out, walk, three-run blast, out. And the Wrong Sawx led 3-0. Didnít look any better when the Sox went down 1-2-3 in the bottom of the first. Top of two, Boston had something going, but came up short. And in the bottom of the frame, Jermaine Dye led off with a homer to bring the score to 3-1 Wrong Sawx after two.

Stayed that way until the bottom of three. Cabrera struck out swinging, but AJ singled. THE Carlos Quentin homered, evening things up. Then J Dye singled and Jim Thome homered, giving us a 5-3 lead. Looked good so far and looked even better when we plated another one in the bottom of the fifth. Unfortunately, the Sox got careless and the Red Sox put up a deuce in the top of the sixth, making this game much closer then it should have been.

Still, the Sox relievers got it done, and the Sox held on to that tenuous lead into the ninth, when Bobby Jenks came in to close it out and preserve the much-needed victory. As I write this, the Royals finally decided to show up for a game and have the Twins knotted up in a 4-4 tie. BREAKING NEWS: KC WINS! SOX BACK IN FIRST! WOO-HOO!!

Anyway, Sox have a chance to win this series tomorrow and wreck some Boston fansí vacations. Letís do it. Game time: 8:11. Oh, wait; thatís only if you are unfortunate enough to live on the East Coast. In Chicago, thatíll be 7:11.

Quest For the Final Table Update:
Still not looking like they own the table. Good thing there are Wild Cards!
