Pleading the 5th

July 29 @ Baggie Dome Twinkies

"These ain't your daddy's White Sox... We're going to keep going after a championship as aggressively as we can."

KW's Hole Cards:
Thirty Miles of Bad Road
Our Dirty 30 did his part; but, the rest of the team apparently weren't ready to drive that treacherous road.

Short Take:A horrible 5th inning did our Sox in tonight in that dump known as the Baggie Dome.

The list of things that can go wrong at the dump known as the Baggie Dome continues to get longer than Hugh Hefner's list of Playmates. Just when it appears things will go well for you, Murphy's Law kicks in like an artificial climate control unit, the skies change from crystal clear sunny to tornado green in a fraction of a second, and you are unable to fully recover from it's ugly head. Clayton Richard and our Palehose breezed through the first 4 frames; but, a horrendus 5th helped catapult the Baggie Dome Twinkies to a 6-5 victory.

The Sox couldn't have manufactured a run better than they did in the first inning. Orlando Cabrera led off with a single, advanced on a balk by Glen Perkins, was sacrificed over by Brian Anderson, and scored on a groundout by TCQ. That 1-0 lead tripled the next frame, as Jim Thome walked, our Cuban Missile put ducks on the pond with a ground rule double, and both were knocked in on a double by Josh Fields. In the 4th frame, Brian Anderson hit his first round-tripper in a ballpark not called US Cellular or Safeco, one of the solo-brand, giving our beloved a nice 4-0 cushion headed into the middle frame of the game.

What exactly happened when Team Baggie Dome came to bat in that frame? I plead the 5th. And, if I could, I'd plead that the 5th wouldn't have even occurred!

They would tack on another immediately following Take Me Out to the Ballgame, giving a 6-4 lead to closer Joe Nathan, who recorded his 29th save of the season after only allowing a 2-out towering solo jack by our Dirty 30. Our Sox still can assure themselves of leaving the Baggie Dome after this series in first place with a win tomorrow night. Gavin Floyd takes on Livan Hernandez. Same time, same dump, different channel (WCIU).

Quest For the Final Table Update:
Just who installed a huge mirror above our Palehose's heads? The pesky Twinkies easily knew which cards were in our Sox' hands and immediately called their bluff.

Our Very Own Dirty 30

Put forth a great effort in his lengthy at-bat in the 7th and hit a towering jack to right field in the 9th. This one wasn't his fault.
