WSI News - Totally Biased Game Recaps

Way to go, bozos

July 28 at Minnesota Twins

"These ain't your daddy's White Sox... We're going to keep going after a championship as aggressively as we can."

KW's Hole Cards:
I'm an idiot
Trade deadline? I'm really into this cup and ball game right now.

Short Take:   Sox kick off a key series by wetting the bed

Lead off man aboard? Strand him! Lead off man aboard? Strand him! Lead off man aboard? Strand him? This would be the Sox rallying cry for the first three innings as the lead off batter gets aboard and then the Sox go down 1-2-3. Not that big a deal as Buehrle holds the Twins to one hit across the first two. Trouble started in the bottom of the third as a timeless Nick Punto blooper sets the stage for a Denard Span home run. Who? Why yes, Denard Span, the rookie hitting his first ever HR in the majors. Classic Twins. A Casilla walk and Mauer fly out sets teh stage for a Morneau two out, two run homer of his own. 4-0, Twins. The Sox strike back with a fury and go down in order in the 4th. Buehrle recovers nicely and blanks the Twins in the bottom of the frame. Sox have a forgettable 5th and then the wheels fall off. The umps blow a call at first where Konerko tags Casilla on a wide Fields throw. Replay clearly shows he was out but the outcome is a runner on first with no outs and an error on Fields. Then Mauer reaches safely as Cabrera's throw to second is wild. Sox rack up their third multi-error game in the last week. Morneau singles to drive in a run but thankfully, a Young line out and Monroe double play ball minimizes the damage.

Alas, the Sox offense just wasn't here tonight. AJ leads off the sixth with a single and like clockwork, the following batters are retired in order. AJ would pick up another single in the 8th but the Sox went down in order in the 7th and the 9th. Slowey goes the distance and pitches the complete game shutout. Wassermann relived Buehrle and went two strong, giving up only a walk. Masset started the 8th. He hit Redmond to start it off, gave up a single to Gomez and then a double to Harris to plate two more runs. He put the next three Twins batters down 1-2-3 but the damage had been done.

Twins win, 7-0 and the Sox lead falls to 1.5 games. Go get 'em tomorrow, I guess.

Quest For the Final Table Update:
Final table? Might as well go to Arby's. 4 for $5.
