WSI News - Totally Biased Game Recaps

July 22 vs. Texas Rangers

"These ain't your daddy's White Sox... We're going to keep going after a championship as aggressively as we can."

KW's Hole Cards:
Texas Dolly
Mark Buehrle and our hitters made that 10-2 thrashing of Texas look easy.

Short Take:Our Sox have a pair of 4-run innings, while Mark Buehrle threw a gem, in a thorough 10-2 mastery of the Texas Rangers.

Everyone at White Sox Interactive wishes condolences to Mark Buehrle and his family, as Buehrle must travel to Missouri for his grandfather's funeral tomorrow. As a result, the fastest pitcher to throw on a Sox uniform was asked to pitch on one less day's rest and still displayed the good stuff he's been historically known to deal, while our bats came alive to back him up in a thorough 10-2 thrashing of the Texas Rangers.

Returning from a 1-game absence due to being hit on the knee by a pitch Sunday afternoon, Jermaine Dye inked the scorecard as early as possible with a 2-out RBI double of TCQ to give our Sox a 1-0 lead. It's always good to pace yourself when you want the greatest results. Our Sox did just that in taking a brief two-inning nap before waking up just in time to put up a big four-spot in the fourth inning. Dye laced a single just past a diving Michael Young to start things off, followed by a single by Big Jim, who was forced out on a fielder's choice by Paulie Walnuts, setting the stage for the "Dirty 30" to leave the premises and perform another one of his "Captain Swisher" poses for the camera. Juan Uribe immediately doubled and was batted in by Orlando Cabrera. Our Sox had a nice 5-0 lead after just 4 innings of work!

During the next frame, our Sox got on the board once again, as Dye reached base for the third time, was "first-and-thirded" by Big Jim, and scored when Paulie Walnuts did what he does best--he hit into a tailor-made double play. That 6-0 lead remained for a couple frames, until our Sox launched a missile Alexei Ramirez-style in the bottom of the 7th. Texas does have a great offense; but, our Cuban Missile slammed any reasonable thoughts of a Texas comeback shut, as he hit his first career grand slam with Big Jim, Paulie Walnuts, and Dirty 30 aboard. If you looked at the scoreboard not knowing a baseball game was going on, you could've sworn the Bears led the Cowboys by a touchdown, extra point, and a field goal at that point.

In the top of the 8th, our Sox gave up a couple of sympathy runs, including a solo jack by Chris Davis, which closed the scoring for the night. Not only did our Sox bust out of their brief 3-game slide; but, the Yankees were able to give us a bit more help in destroying the Twins for the second consecutive night, giving us a bit more breathing room in the division (1.5 games). Let's win this series tomorrow afternoon before heading off for a 10-game road trip! Clayton Richard makes his major-league debut and will tow the rubber against Kevin Millwood. Same place, same channel, different time (1:05).

Quest For the Final Table Update:
Mark Buehrle pitched like the ace we've seen from him the vast majority of the last few seasons, helping our Sox easily win the hand tonight.
