Kick 'Em When They're Lowe!

June 24 at Los Angeles Dodgers

"These ain't your daddy's White Sox... We're going to keep going after a championship as aggressively as we can."

KW's Hole Cards:
Santa Barbara
Buehrle pitched like the Ace we know is in his capabilities, while King Dye gave him a little breathing room, making this a pleasant start to a series in Southern Cal.

Short Take:Mark Buehrle threw another quality start, while the Sox bats came alive at the right time, in a Palehose victory at Chavez Ravine.

After a sickly nine-game road losing streak, our Palehose visited the doctor's office to seek a remedy for their road ills. Their prescription: a visit to Los Angeles to play Derek Lowe and his Dodgers, a team who has been struggling for the better portion of the season. Did that medicine ever work for the Beloved, at least for one evening, as they first took a couple sips then guzzled the rest of tonight's dose in a stunning 6-1 mastery of their NL foe.

Before leaving the pharmacy, our Sox wanted to find out exactly how their prescribed liquid drug tasted, so they took a couple of sips. In the first frame, they loaded the bases to start things off (O-C, AJ, and TCQ), and Nick Swisher flew out to left field to plate O-C. The next frame, Dewayne Wise led off with a single and was knocked in by O-C. The prescription was as tasty as liquid amoxicillin, so they left the Pharmacy feeling pleased with their medicine and headed for their Soxmobile up 2-0.

Because they would have a long road to travel to get to the Winner's Circle, our Sox set their vehicle on cruise control and relaxed. Halfway through their travels, they hit a small road construction zone and had to slow down for just a bit. The small pothole, which was caused by a rod of lightning that hit the bat of Delwyn Young, caused a slight bump in the road. No harm, no foul! Mark Buehrle and the Sox still came out of the middle frame up 2-1.

Having passed the construction zone, the Soxmobile was switched back to cruise control for the rest of the trip. Just before arriving at their final destination, our Sox took the prescription bottle out of its bag and guzzled down the rest of its contents. With TCQ on first, last week's Player of the Week Jermaine Dye went opposite field for his seventh homer in eight games! Swisher would then single, beat out a double play, and score on a triple by Wise, who also was knocked in by the Cuban Missle. What a nice four-spot our Sox put on the board during that eighth frame!

Scott Linebrink finished things off in the nineth, parked the Soxmobile in the Winner's Circle for the night, and handed off the keys to Gavin Floyd, tomorrow night's starter. Hopefully the prescription's effect will hold and he'll take the Soxmobile on as smooth of a ride as Buehrle and the defense behind him did tonight. The ride starts at the same time, same place, different channel (WCIU).

Quest For the Final Table Update:
After taking a weekend bathroom break at the Urinal, our Sox returned to the table and took advantage of their struggling opponent.
