Piranhas??? More like Goldfish!

June 9th vs. Minnesota Twinkies

"These ain't your daddy's White Sox... We're going to keep going after a championship as aggressively as we can."

KW's Hole Cards:
Our Sox let Minnesota have it all four games in this wrap-around weekend series, flushing them out of town without a single win!

Short Take:They came into town known as piranhas, but they left tamer than goldfish, as our Sox bested their arch-rival Twinkies for the fourth game in as many days.

What is that on the shop table? Looking closely, one can see baseball equipment and cut up baseball players scattered about, a sign of the events that have happened over the past four days. The Minnesota Twinkies ran into the buzz saw known as the Chicago White Sox with none of their parts spared! What an ugly sight, unless you're one to revel in seeing a bunch of phony "piranahs" displaying their true identity as little cupcakes tamer than goldfish who were bullied big time by our superior Sox! Our Sox put the Twinkies through the biggest form of torture today. They lulled them into thinking they could sneak one past them, snatching it away near the end. Our Sox battled back to win this make-up game 7-5! That's worse than taking candy away from a baby!

Jim Thome hit a ground rule double to left field and scored on a single by Jermaine Dye, giving our Sox a quick 1-0 lead after a couple frames. In the 4th, Minnesota would send 7 men to the plate, scoring a trio of runs to take a 3-1 lead; but, Nick Swisher cut into that meager lead homering to left immediately afterwards. After the Twinkies got a couple more in the 5th, our pitchers (John Danks, winning pitcher Matt Thornton, Scott Linebrink, and Bobby Jenks) snatched their bats from them the rest of the game!

That 5-2 lead wouldn't last for very long! In the 6th, Swisher and Thome both scored their second runs of the game on a homer by the Dirty 30. The next inning, TCQ tied the game up, as he scored Orlando Cabrera on a fielder's choice, which forced Alexei Ramirez out at second. The next batter, Paul Konerko, put our Sox ahead for good, as he hit his second game-changing home run of the home stand, accounting for the rest of the scoring.

Gloat all you want, Sox fans! Our Sox have built a 6.5 game lead in the division, a comfort level which no other divisional leader remotely has in the rest of MLB. Don't let up on things, Sox! We thank you for sweeping the Twinkies, winning this make-up game in the process; but, you need to continue this type of play in Detroit, whom you have obliterated for the past decade! Jose Contreras takes the bump against Justin Verlander, whom we have already beat twice this season! Gametime is at 6:05 and can be seen on CSN.

Quest For the Final Table Update:
Our Sox took the Twins' cards, chips, as well as their lunch money!
