The Carlos Quentin Show

May 25 vs. Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim

"These ain't your daddy's White Sox... We're going to keep going after a championship as aggressively as we can."

KW's Hole Cards:
Hand of Kings!
Contreras throws a gem! The Carlos Quentin takes care of business!

Short Take:   The Carlos Quentin launches two home runs to power the Sox to avoid the sweep!

Jose Contreras and Carlos Quentin was all the Sox needed tonight as they avoided the sweep by the hand of the Angels to finish up their homestand 4-2 with the 3-2 Sox win!

Jose was on from the start of the game. A six pitch first inning for Jose set up the excellent Sunday night game. The game was scoreless going into the bottom of the third. Alexi Ramirez singled to lead off the inning and Carlos Quentin bailed out Orlando Cabrera and A.J. Pierzynski who couldn't get the job done, with a two run shot to give the Sox a 2-0 lead.

In what was Jose's only misstep of the game, the Angels got the two runs right back with their own two run homer off the bat of Gary Matthews Jr. to tie the game. That was all Jose gave up. He threw a stellar eight innings of baseball giving up three hits, striking out ten, and not allowing a walk.

That all set up a dramatic walk off home run by Carlos Quentin. Angels' starter John Lackey was still in the game in the ninth when Quentin led off the inning and wasted no time to end the game with one swing. While Quentin was rounding the bases the 36,000+ were going crazy in their seats.

The 3-2 win puts the Sox at 27-22 for the 2008 season. They embark on a seven game road trip to Cleveland and Tampa Bay. Tomorrow, Javier Vazquez and Paul Byrd will go at it in Cleveland at 6:05pm. The game is televised on Comcast SportsNet.

Quest For the Final Table Update:
Quentin and Contreras take care of business. As for everybody else, sooner rather than later fellas...
