TCQ On the Rocks

May 14 @ California Halos

"These ain't your daddy's White Sox... We're going to keep going after a championship as aggressively as we can."

KW's Hole Cards:
Siegfried and Roy
Quentin mauled the Halos twice tonight.

Short Take:TCQ flexes his big muscles as he drives his first career grand slam all the way to the rocks. The Good Guys win 6-1!

What are the Chicago mediots gonna talk about tomorrow? The Sox' pitching was outstanding once again, their defense was effective, AND they actually broke out the bats tonight, albiet late, drawing to a game out of first place. Our Palehose shut the yappers of The Windsock and his cult for a day (and hopefully more) in topping the California Halos 6-1.

With three straight hits to start off the game, greatly due to Ozzie doing the Lineup Shuffle that saw AJ hitting second for the first time ever, the Sox immediately drew first blood. TCQ quickly got an RBI in getting O-Cab in before an out was recorded. Unfortunately, that was all our Sox could muster at that time.

Jose Contreras looked extremely effective for the first four frames; however, in the middle stanza, the Halos started things off with runners on the corners. Like our pitchers have done almost all season long, Contreras minimized the damage by only allowing the lead-off batter, Maicer Izturis, to score on a sac fly by Mike Napoli. As a result, the game was deadlocked at one run a side.

Hitting slumps are part of the game of baseball, even whole-team slumps. When it seemed like it would last for another game, Hawk & DJ truly took one for the team with their "Rally Kiss." For those of you who were unable to watch the game, Hawk & DJ were put on the Kiss Cam at Angel Stadium tonight. The unexpected would follow.

With Halo starter John Lackey gone after throwing for seven innings in his first start of the season, Scott was unable to Shield(s) California from a Sox offensive onslaught! Juan Uribe singled to lead off the eighth, while O-Cab followed lacing a sharp grounder to deep short, causing an off-balance Erick Aybar to errantly throw the ball into the stands, giving O-Cab an extra base. With ducks on the pond and nobody out, AJ was intentionally walked. BIG mistake, Halos! You can't do that when our hottest hitter's up next! The latest drink in Chicagoland bars was invented tonight. We'll call it TCQ "on the rocks," as THE Carlos Quentin muscled his first career grand slam to the rocks in left center. With one sip of that lethal drink, the Halos were intoxicated to death.

A couple uncharacter "add-ons" followed: Paul Konerko stole his first base in a couple seasons in that same frame, while Nick Swisher towered a lead-off homer to add an exclamation point to tonight's contest in the final frame. Apparently the National Guard's 24-hour search for our missing bats turned out Soxessful, as the bats were found somwehere in The Windsock's basement and put on a nonstop flight to Southern Cal with just enough time to spare. Will the bats STAY hot for a change? We'll find out at the same time tomorrow night, same channel. Go Sox!

Quest For the Final Table Update:
When things were looking bleak offensively, TCQ conquered the Halos on the river card.
