WSI News - Totally Biased Game Recaps

May 12 at Los Angeles Angels

"These ain't your daddy's White Sox... We're going to keep going after a championship as aggressively as we can."

Sure, they're nice but won't win you any games.

Short Take:   Another Buehrle dud, another too-little-too-late offense, another Sox loss

Umm, what much can be said? The Sox jump out to an early 3-0 lead on a Dye single, Pierzynski walk and three straight singles by Swisher, Crede and Uribe. Buehrle can't lock it down and the Angels answer with a pair in the bottom of the frame. Crede singles in Swisher in the 4th and the Sox carry that 4-2 lead until the bottom of the 5th when a Guerror 3 run homer and Anderson triple give the Angles a 6-5 lead. The Angels add 4 more in the sixth and the game was all but oout of reach. The Sox show some life late and manage 3 additional runs across the 8th and 9th but at the end of the night, it is 10-7, Angels. K-Rod dances about the mound.

It was another non-quality start for Buehrle. It was as if a 2006 Vazquez was on the mound, what with the 4 run 5th. Buehrle continues his struggles as he falls to 1-5 and his ERA climbs to 5.81. He hasn't won a game in over a month. The bullpen was so-so as Wassermann relieved Buehrle and allowwed two hits, one of which scored an inherited runner. Logan replaces Wassermann before he can even record an out and gives up a pair of singles, scoring two more runs. DOtel and THornton pitched the 8th and 9th, respectively, and put the Angels down 1-2-3 in both innings. But they are not batting and can only keep the team in the game.

At the end of the day, it was another dissapointing game. The Angels are a good team but the Sox failed to capitalize on opportunities. Eight men were stranded tonight, five of which were in scoring position. The offense hit into four double plays while the Angels hit into none. A Crede error in the 6th lead to three runs, two of which were unearned. Could taht play have made the difference in the game? Possibly but it was one of just many blown opportunites. If the 2008 Sox want to have a shot it this thing, they need to start playing up to their potential.

WSI's Quest For the Final Table Update:  Final Table? These guys need to hone their skills on some type of junior circuit.
