Floyd Flirts With History

May 6 vs. Minneota Twinkies

"These ain't your daddy's White Sox... We're going to keep going after a championship as aggressively as we can."

KW's Hole Cards:
Mixed Marriage
King Floyd and Quentin led the way.

Short Take:Gavin Floyd was two outs away from throwing a no-hitter, while our Sox' bats finally came alive in a total demolition of the Minnesota Twinkies.

It is very rare that I put any junk food in the lunch that I take to work each day; however, while I was driving to work this morning, I was contemplating the dismal road trip the Sox just had and thought of things I could personally do to help the Sox turn it around. Before making my last turn, I stopped by the BP gas station to pick up one of those twin-packed packages of Hostess Twinkies. I put my purchase in my lunch bag and was on my way to work. To my lunch buddy colleagues' surprise, health nut me was eating "unhealthy goods!" I devoured both of those Twinkies quickly and went on with the rest of the day of work. If that's not "taking one for the team," I do not know what is! Seven hours later, Gavin Floyd and our Palehose's BATS smashed the creme out of the Minnesota Twinkies 7-1!

It didn't take long for the Good Guys to take a couple bites out of the Twinkies, as O-Cab and TCQ were batted in by Jermaine Ti-Dye giving them their first lead of any kind since dinosaurs roamed the world (or so it seemed, just don't let Carl Everett read this). A few frames later, the creme-filled lunch snacks got one of those runs back on a flyout by Jason Kubel, getting in Joe Mauer. That didn't matter much, as that would be all of the scoring for them! Let the after-dinner feast begin!

Our Sox began putting the royal smack-down on the Twinks in the bottom of that same frame. Slappy Uribe plated Ti-Dye, who took a walk to lead off the frame. Ti-Die wanted to make sure his name appeared on the box score another time tonight, so he muscled an opposite-field solo jack into the right field seats. Twins fans: Silent! Beat-down: ON!

Our beloved quickly doubled their lead in the next couple of frames. TCQ got in on the action once again after Sox fans sung their lungs out for the 7th Inning Stretch. With ducks on the pond (Uribe and O-Cab) and nobody out, TCQ got both of them in. The two remaining Stooges finished the box of Twinkies, as Joe Crede doubled in AJ in the 8th.

Everything was going right for our Sox the entire evening. Unfortunately, Joe Mauer had to break up Floyd's no-hitter with only two friggen outs left in the game! Ahhh, well! Floyd's flirted with history already a couple times this season. Maybe the third time will be a charm! Everybody at WSI is still proud of you, Gavin!

Sox win??? HELL YEA! SOX WIN!!! Now, excuse me while I go and wipe up the mess that our Sox made of the Twinkies! They royally CREAMED them!!! The field shall be ready to resume play in time for tomorrow night's affair at 7:11 on CSN.

Quest For the Final Table Update:
The Sox drove in the fast lane all night with the help of a blow-up doll.
