Seven Glorious Days in June

For Sox Fans not yet sprouting gray hairs, the closest we've come to the euphoria of a Sox championship.  (Pretty pathetic, huh?)

In June, 2000, the Chicago White Sox faced the season's toughest stretch of games.  Five-time division champion Cleveland and multi-world champion New York would be the sole opposition for seven consecutive days.  The Sox were supposed to collapse under such great strain.  Instead, they completed the greatest stretch of regular season victories perhaps in the entire century-old history of the franchise.

Relive the glory in the totally biased fashion only White Sox Interactive provides Sox Fans!

June 12 at Jacobs Field.  Sox 8, Cleveland 7.  Frank Thomas and Ray Durham provide more than enough offense to make Cal Eldred the winner.

June 13 at Jacobs Field.  Sox 4, Cleveland 3 (10 innings).  Ray Durham's crushes a solo shot dinger in the tenth inning to send Tribe fans home the losers they are.

June 14 at Jacobs Field.  Sox 11, Cleveland 4.  Magglio Ordonez leads a high-powered hitting attack in the second inning, leading the Sox to the sweep in Cleveland!

June 15 at Yankee Stadium.  Sox 12, Yankees 3.  The Sox were kicking the crap out of New York long before Chuck Knoblauch made the outcome inevitable.  Another convincing Sox victory unrecognized by the national media!

June 16 at Yankee Stadium. Sox 3, Yankees 1.   James Baldwin outduels David Cone and the Sox improve to 42-24, the best record in baseball.

June 17 at Yankee Stadium.  Sox 10, Yankees 9.  The Sox bury New York with eight runs the first four innings, then hold on for their sixth straight victory, pushing New York to the verge of a four-game sweep at home.

June 18 at Yankee Stadium.  Sox 17, Yankees 4.  The conquest is complete.  The Sox sent twelve batters to the plate in the very first inning, making this game into a joke before it had barely begun.  Joe Torre walks Frank Thomas and Magglio Ordonez six times--with disastrous results!
