WSI News - Totally Biased Game Recaps

No bats, no comback

April 2 at Cleveland

"These ain't your daddy's White Sox... We're going to keep going after a championship as aggressively as we can."

KW's Hole Cards:
Pure Bluff
Nothing going on the pitching front. Sox had bases loaded in the 8th, Dye bluffed on being clutch.

Short Take: Bats go silent as Sox winless so far in 2008.

In the second game of this young 2008 season, Indians' starter Fausto Carmona was wildly effective in keeping Sox bats in check while Sox starter Javier Vazquez struggled in his 5 innings of work.

The defending AL Central Champs jumped on Vazquez in the bottom of the second inning. Grady Sizemore hit a two out bases loaded single that gave the Indians a 2-0 lead.

The Sox first tally came in the top of the fifth when Joe Crede drove in A.J. Pierzynski from second base with a single up the middle. At the time, the Sox trailed 2-1, but Sox killer Grady Sizemore tormented Vazquez again in the Indians half of the fifth with a one out triple. Sizemore came to score on a Asdrubal Cabrera RBI single. Later in the inning Vazquez issued a bases loaded walk to Franklin Gutierrz to give the Indians a 4-1 edge. Vazquez got out of the inning with no further damage but Mike MacDougal came on in the sixth inning and picked up right were his 2007 left off giving up a pair of runs giving the Indians the 6-1 lead on back to back RBI singles by Grady Sizemore and Asdrubal Cabrera.

There was a mild threat in the eighth inning with two outs. The Sox loaded the bases but Jermaine Dye didn't justify his new contact by striking out after a long battle at the plate.

The Indians added one more in the eighth and A.J. led off the ninth with a solo bomb to make the final score 7-2 in favor of Cleveland. So, the same team that put up a hard fought eight runs Monday afternoon could only muster up two tonight. Our Sox start the season off 0-2 and will try and pick up win number one tomorrow morning when John Danks makes his first start of the year when the Sox finish off this opening series against Jake Westbrook. Game time is 11:05am and the game will be televised on Comcast Sports Net.

WSI's
Quest For the Final Table Update:
Pretty much the same game we watched last season.
